Has anybody out there used there GI bill benefits to pay for school? I'm looking at Sage in NY for a school. It will cost $4,200 for 150 hours. Does anybody know how much the VA will chip in? I have an active duty GI bill.

Contact the VA to see if this school is eligible. I know that Roehl (trucking company) has a program for military where you can use the G.I. Bill for your training.

I already got my degree paid for by the Navy when I was active duty. Now instead of letting it disappear in 5 more years I want to use the bill for something. Has anybody out ther used the bill for this?

I forgot to mention I have $35,000 available in my GI Bill So I'm not worried about using some on a driving school.

You can use your G.I. Bill for this, you just have to make sure the school is accepted. If you already have your college degree (kudos for doing that while serving your country by the way), then you may as well use part of the G.I. Bill for this.

What degree did you get? Why don't you get more classes in that area?

Why have you chosen trucking? Also working with Roehl is most likely meaning that if you complete the classes there they might hire you. It is not the same as training with Roehl who WILL hire you if you if you go through them. :)

I got my degree through the military. I was combat camera, documenting military operations. Got a degree in communication, which pays about $12/hr. The benefits and pay suck. I now have a farm and I'm looking for something that will pay better. I've heard that Roehl is a good outfit to get into. I have an interview tomorrow with a company that will train me and pay 10/hr while I'm training for 4 weeks. I would then work 4 days a week/ 2 on twice a week. I would be home three days /week. Good benefits and I would make around 850/week the first year.

I tell you!! if they pay me today, going to TRUCKING SCHOOL I will send them to H...... It is wasting money and your time. If you really want to drive, hook up with owner operator, but first you have to go and pass written test and get permit. Some of them will teach you the proper way, so in the future you can own your own truck.

I wouldn't use your GI bill on this. Save it towards a down payment on a home or something. That's what my husband did with his.

Maybe this about this a little bit more before putting all of your GI bill on this. Make sure that you have thought this all the way through and if there are other careers that you are thinking of, then take a look at those as well.
