Is that what the hydrometer is for?

I have one but don't recall ever using it.

I use my coolant hydrometer every fall though.

WTF does a load tester have to do with charging a a battery? Load testers are for determining if the battery is junk or not. Not it's state of charge.

Even maintenance free batteries can have their caps popped off and tested for dead cells and specific gravity. Generally, you'll want anything over 1.25 Spec grav which should be 90% charge or better.

Yeah, specific gravity will tell the charge state, load testing gives you a peek at the health of the battery.

The absolute best way to charge a battery is quite involved, with charge rates varying with different levels of charge, and the input voltage needs to vary as well. On top of that they throw some transient voltage "noise" that help break up any sulfation on the plate faces.

I need a good quality desulfator. Maybe I can get a cheap Walmart battery to last more than two years.

Really judging from the amount of pill commercials on TV I would hazard a guess there are a lot of boys gonna have a problem passing your test. They were not procreating before then, without help.
