What are the rules for carrying a Handgun while out on the road ?

If you are a company driver, driving "their" truck they may have their own policy for this. If you own your own/lease your own truck it will depend on the state you are traveling in. Check out this link Concealed carry in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I had planned to go to Florida a couple of years ago (I live in Indiana). I didn't end up going but If I had I could have carried a handgun all the way legally. Because all the states between Indiana and Florida honor other states permits. Just don't go to Illinois. They don't believe in the right to keep and bear arms.

I won't get very deep into this, because over time, this thread will surely end up filled with loads of false information due to people believing whatever they want to believe in order to justify carrying a weapon in their truck.
First off, you have to have a license to carry a concealed handgun,
and any State you happen to be in will either have to accept the license you have, or you will have to be licensed in their State (otherwise, you are illegally carrying the gun in their State)
Second, is company policy and insurance.
If the company you work for, or are leased to, doesn't allow guns in trucks, you can't do it without the risk of being immediately terminated if caught.
Third, shipper/receiver rules must be obeyed.
This is the one that everyone seems to forget about or somehow try to ignore when they argue this topic. If the customer has a policy that doesn't allow firearms on their property, you cannot enter their property with the gun in your possession (in your truck). For me, this debate pretty much ends here because the majority of businesses DO NOT allow firearms on their property.

How bout a flare gun?? last time I checked anyone could have them(no permit).Would leave a nasty mark :cowboy:

When I was driving I carried my paintball gun. I even got to use it once! This one night I parked at a truck stop in TN. It was summer and a breez was blowing I was sitting there doing my Log and a Lot Lizard Jumped up on the door and scared the sh*@ out of me. I kept my paintball gun loaded and tanked in the jump seat. So I reached over and this paintball gun will spray about 14 rounds a second, with the balls flying out at about 300 FPS (feet per second) at 10 feet the gun will draw blood.
SO! back to to lizard. you can imagin the look on her face when I at point blank range pulled the triger set to full auto. The hopper holds about 150 rounds and it was full. Not only did I knock her off the step I went out the door after her. My finger never leaving the trigger. But you bet your ass she was leaving the parking lot.
There was like 6 other drivers that seen the whole thing and they were all laughing so damn hard they came out shook my hand one guy bought me dinner cause he said in all his years hes never seen any thing as funny as watching the lizard getting raked with a high powered paintball gun.

Even though it's illegal to carry a firearm,I see nothing wrong with it.Now a days you need a weapon.I bet ya many trk drivers carry a weapon.Just don't brag about it.

The wife's FDS works great for killing bugs in the house, in fact better than wasp killer. Spray that in some ones eyes. I like a mossberg camper combo 20 gauge. short and very reliable with first round out of t bomb followed by buck then a slug. t bomb hurts them/ buck knocks them down and the slug will finish even the most persistant violater and is a hunting tool
A man once told me its better to be juged by 12 then carryed by 6 . I would carry the gun .I have family thats in law in forcement with k9.I asked him if the dog could find a gun in my truck. he said that only if it had been fired. he said that the dog can only smell the burnt gun powder.so if its clean and hid away they cant find it.

I want this double barrel 20 ga. black-powder pistol in my truck arsonal. It is black powder, and, therefore not as regulated as cartridge weapons, and, it would (if loaded properly) raise enough hell to scare someone to death... Wouldn't need to actually shoot them.
