Early Tuesday afternoon, the U.S. House of Representatives will debate and vote on an amendment to stop the DOT’s planned pilot program to allow Mexico-domiciled trucking companies to operate throughout the U.S.

U.S. Reps. Peter DeFazio, D-OR; Duncan Hunter, R-CA; Gary Miller, R-CA; and Nancy Boyda, D-KS; have introduced an amendment to HR3074, the annual transportation appropriations bill, that will cut off all funding for the pilot program.

As you may recall, in May the House passed HR1773, the Safe American Roads Act, with a vote of 411-3. Subsequently, portions of that legislation were included in emergency supplemental appropriations bill that was signed into law by the president.

The DeFazio, Hunter, Miller, Boyda amendment will ensure that the Department of Transportation abides by the intentions of Congress and stops moving ahead with this outrageous pilot program.

Please contact your elected representative in the U.S. House of Representatives to ask him or her to vote for the DeFazio, Hunter, Miller, Boyda amendment. Your representative needs to hear from you, your family members and your fellow truckers about the importance of passing this amendment.

To contact your U.S. representative, call the U.S. Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121, provide the operator with your home ZIP code and they will connect you with the office of your elected House member.
