Oil Company and Oil Company Boycott Talk

A Catch 22

It's a catch 22 folks.

There are two things going against the American driver. If a strike or government intervention were to force fuel prices down to the point that truckers were able to make a profit again the demand for diesel and gasoline would go through the roof, and that would raise prices all over again so its a bit like a snake eating it's own tail .... we're damned if we do, and we're damned if we don't .... in short we're stuck in a catch 22. The only thing that will drive fuel prices down is bringing the new oil fields in the US on line, and that won't do it unless the oil companies build more refineries. More oil means nothing if you can't refine it.

So why are we short on refineries? Our lying lap dog legislators allowed the merger of all the major oil companies in the U.S. They lied when they said that the mergers would increase competition .... what a cock! The oil companies were allowed ot merge, and the first thing they did is shut down over 150 refineries. The lap dogs ignored all evidence proving that by lowering the number of oil companies it would in reality raise fuel prices, and wala higher fuel prices. Everyone with half a brain knew they were spewing more lap-dog moronic logic, but when did our (their) lying lap dog legislators ever lessen to the public? So here we are, still stuck with the same lap-dog legislators that have the instants of a corporate CEO. We are the problem ..... because we keep electing incompetent lap-dogs.

So the question is, will the oil companies ever build the refineries to refine enough oil to bring prices down ...... will Bush be remembered as the people's president, is there really a Santa or an Easter Bunny?

The only way to pull the very last rabbit out of the hat is to ....

BOYCOTT EXXON/MOBIL,
for as long as it takes!!
Why EXXON/MOBIL, because they are on every other corner in the U.S.
In reality that won't work either because there are just to many sheep in the U.S.
Please, someone prove me wrong, please!

Here is a question that no one has asked yet. Our government has spent millions and is subsidizing millions in ethanol and bio fuel plants. Now my question is we all know this is the poorest form of a replacement form of energy for autos and trucks unless they are set up to run on that. Today not many people are just rushing out and buying the alternative fuel cars because they don't work.

So here is the question I have for the multi millions of dollars boondoggle of our hard earned and wasted tax dollars. Why and the hell weren't we building refineries here to refine the crude oil instead of corn cobs. and why and hell weren't we here drilling for oil instead of trying to grow corn and beans that we can only get in the fall or basically a one shot deal for the year, and if we have a bad year we have no alternative fuel. Also it costs more in refined fuel to plant for less in return in alternative fuel. I say we need our government to get off its lazy ass and give private industry the money to go ahead here to drill and refine our own fuel. With the amount of alternative fuel plants we have now, we could convert them to refineries, and be working and making things work well

Monsanto is getting $5.00 from the Gov for every gallon of ethanol they produce. It costs $7.50 to produce one gallon of ethanol. Also it would take every tillable acre of land in the US to grow enough corn to produce enough ethanol to fell our needs. The Brazilians use sugarcane, they must be smarter than the Monsanto engineers. For every drop of ethanol they are now putting in our gasoline means we are paying more for gasoline because of the drop in mileage.

As Jeff
We are no looking far back enough. There used to be a huge surplus in grain every year. Remember when we wanted to trade " Wheat for Oil" with the former Soviet Union? There was certainly no shortage then when our government paid subsidies, so farmers would not plant but so much each year. The problem was that the US controlled a word commodity That had a real need somewhere. Farmers made enough money to buy huge expensive farm machinery to make farming more economical by producing higher yields. Only problem was it had to be bought on credit for a few years.

Bankers could not tolerate an economic power beyond their control. Using big business and citing supply and demand the price of grain was cut slowly at first, until farming was no longer profitable. Fed raised interest rates which lowered the amount of money in circulation and denied credit in a false recession to put farmers out of business. Why, because the excess grain could have been used for ethanol and the way needed to be paved for an oil driven economy.
Does this sound familiar?

Perhaps you remember a few years back that pilot oil bought out any and all independent truck stops they could and put the Pilot name up in their place while striking deals with large freight companies for big discounts at the pump. This effectively cut out any competition in diesel sales. This is the same thing that the big five did to independent gas stations.

With all of this in place and America having plenty of money in circulation causing prosperity in housing markets. Fed raised the interest rate just enough to slow the economic growth, effectively removing money in circulation. Fed could then lower rates repeatedly to fund speculation in the oil market, falsely raising the price while keeping the money out of circulation. To whom could they loan this money, themselves.

If we are going to boycott the big five we must include their subsidiary components, The truck stop chains. If you have not guessed by now, the fed, big oil and truck stops are all owned by the same people.

At this point, what is feeding the frenzy speculating into oil is the speculating that Countrywide Financial is about to be abandoned by Bank of America. The fear is that such an abandonment could bring into question the over-the-counter derivatives that Countrywide holds, and hence the larger domino affect on the other trillions of dollars worth of OTC derivatives that are being held by other companies (investment banks). Investors fearful of such a sudden potential stock market decline are jumping into gold and oil, and not converting to cash assets, to protect themselves.

To be quite honest, the same thing that happened with Bear Stearns could very much happen to Countrywide Financial. Right now, all the balls are in the financial sector's (big banks' & Fed's) court. All of us common folk that actually earn our living by getting our hands dirty don't have much other than our voice and our vote. The vote would be to get a President into office that actually supports the full-reinstatement of the 1933 Glass Steagall Act (that was taken apart in the 1990's and kept commercial banks and investment banks separated) as well as a Congress that can give the Securities and Exchange Commission extended powers to regulate Hedge Funds by forcing them to register Hedge Funds of any kind. From where I sit, what the banks are doing to not own up to this dangerous economic situation they've created is VERY DISTURBING. It has created a system where banks are free to make major mistakes that hurt the economy in big ways without any accountability and additionally force the common taxpayer to bail them out and foot the bill through larger national debt. Oil prices going up is a side effect of this kind of bad regulation in the banking industry. Imagine if Enron was allowed to get away with what they did back in 2001. Banks are not being held to Enron-like consequences. This cause-effect relationship between deregulated banking practices and oil needs people in Congress that understand it and a President that is willing to get tough with the Fed Reserve and banks and limit their exploitation of the common taxpayers.
I am the Husband of TN.truckers wife and have posted using her sign on before. I think I have noted that on threads I have posted.

drop73. Very insightful and I am afraid, spot on.
I have been dealing with these issues at another forum where a few have a greater understanding of what you are saying. It would appear that some of your shop talk is not clearly understood. I have only recently had to learn about this by research through the other forum.

When you talk of Hedge funds we are discussing the private investment of big money. The details of these transaction do not fall under any authority that can make them public. Therefore if investments in one market is expected to return less then profitable results, big money can "hedge their losses by investing in what might be considered high risk, like oil futures. The simple fact that this is allowed to a select few, can drive a particular market above it's sustainable value, like oil. This is a misnomer however, the losers of the first investments are not required to be the investors in the created hedge funds.

By lowering the interest rate (by FED), much more money can be invested in the same future, effectively feeding the rise in prices. This can be done again and again until the market will bear no more increase. At this point these hedge funds will be dumped and the profits reaped by the select few. Oil prices will crash and those who were not aware that the value was falsely inflated will lose a great deal of money. Where does this wealth go? Into the pockets of the few allowed to invest in these hedge funds.

While Wall street may be aware that it will happen, they do not know when. Who does, the investors in these hedge funds. Why, because their dumping of these funds will cause the crash because they can selectively set the date, Just like the crash of 29. They that cause the bubble have the ability to bust it. Who are these investors? because there is no authority to regulate these transactions, it could be FED members themselves, big oil or foreigners.

The beauty of the scam (for them) is, that they are all one in the same. The money goes to the same place. The names could be interchanged and the faces could be different but the money still ends up in the world bank, aka fed aka IMF.

It should be pointed out that our principals will be used against us. Do not be so strictly tied to those principals that that we hasten our own demise. Do whatever it takes to survive for now, even if it means taking cheap freight to get to an area that money can be made. The longer O/O's exist the longer it will take to enact the rest of their plans, namely The North American Union.

Before the NAU can be initiated, the borders must be opened. This still has not been accomplished. Congress has mandated no funding of the open-border program and yet it continues to operate, which shows the determination of the players in the shadows.

I do agree the independent driver needs to persevere to combat that crucial step to NAU. But I do not believe putting one's self in the poor house is the answer. It's basically what the players are attempting to do to the American truckers. Once you go broke...there's considered to be a legitimate reason for opening the border. If American truckers refuse to haul cheap freight and instead take a stand...if the opening of the border is attempted then - truckers will be justified in an actual blockade of America's southern border. It won't be pretty...but justified.

Our actions - truckers and citizens - are very critical to the outcome of things. We need to take the steps necessary to stop, or at least delay, the attempts being made by the select few. Key thing to remember...they approach everything on decades time-frames. We, truckers and citizens, always make the mistake of viewing and reacting to influences on a "here and now" basis...a critical mistake and something we need to overcome to win this battle. Also, another mistake we're making is the attitude about government.

We need to get active and use our system to stop the changes being attempted...this is a basic action that needs to occur. Our none-involvement with our government has been the main reason things have progressed to the point they're at. At least that's what I truely believe. It's our country. It's our government. And it only takes the American citizen's to stand up as one voice to make our government take the actions necessary.

National fuel average is 4.33.8 so 4.34
The wife was talking to a BP worker yesterday and heard BP officials of the station were talking about the fuel in the tanks should stay the same price from when they were delivered. But the big BP officials say the fuel in the tanks now will increase with the stock market projections daily as long as an increase is in order, and it will take a few days to drop if the fuel cost on the barrel drops. Get ready for Monday increases. BP all ready has increases set for Monday morning.

Premeditated Merger: North American Army created without OK by Congress Jerome R. Corsi March 26, 2008 U.S., Canada military ink deal to fight domestic emergencies
In a ceremony that received virtually no attention in the American media, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement Feb. 14 allowing the armed forces from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a domestic civil emergency, even one that does not involve a cross-border crisis.

U.S. Air Force Gen. Gene Renuart, commander of USNORTHCOM, signs agreement Feb. 14, 2008, with Canadian Air Force Lt. Gen. Marc Dumais, commander of Canada Command (USNORTHCOM photo)
The agreement, defined as a Civil Assistance Plan, was not submitted to Congress for approval, nor did Congress pass any law or treaty specifically authorizing this military agreement to combine the operations of the armed forces of the United States and Canada in the event of a wide range of domestic civil disturbances ranging from violent storms, to health epidemics, to civil riots or terrorist attacks.

In Canada, the agreement paving the way for the militaries of the U.S. and Canada to cross each other's borders to fight domestic emergencies was not announced either by the Harper government or the Canadian military, prompting sharp protest.

How about BOYCOTTING t. a.s since this company is generally HIGHER PRICED FOR FUEL than anywhere else?? Anywhere from $.05 to $.10 HIGHER!!
Trash America Centers are nothing special since they don't care about their: Restaurants, Parking Areas, Fuel Prices, Showers, Food.
---
Boycotting the Oil Companies does NO GOOD since like cheap freight, there are others that will buy the fuel, therefore ones boycott is another ones gain.
If you feel it is accomplishing something well good luck.
---
I live in central (Piedmont/Triad) NC and haven't noticed the fuel price increase since I've been suffering "cabin fever" since Thursday.
No work, nowhere to go so why waste gas?!
---
As to WHAT RATE PER MILE, I just take the current price for Diesel and 1/2 it.
NO NEED for Division and Multiplication, therefore at $4.209 one gets $2.1045 and WE figure a minimum fuel mileage rate of 6, where 5 is probably more realistic given the factors of: Traffic, Weather, Terrain, Waiting or Wading through Construction areas, other Idling/Waiting like Coops, Fuel Lines, Stop Lights and Stop Signs, for rest periods.

These are MINE where YOURS are yours.:blah:

That is an interesting way of looking at it, lets go back to the days when fuel was a dollar. We got a dollar per mile. So today I would be more than glad to get $8.80 per mile. What I am finding now is the standard rate is about a dollar again. I have had many companies calling wondering if I would like a lane for $1.01 per mile. Sorry I won't get out of bed for less than $2.50. $2.15 or $2.50 we both know we are not going to be hauling much if at all. I have been shut down since April 1st and will most likely sit another couple of months. There will be another increase come Monday morning. This is now affecting everyone, so we are not alone, we are just getting closer to being in complete control of this. The government has made remarks about getting the Mexican trucking companies in here to do our work, and that would just start a riot that even they could not control. The trucking companies that they now subsidize are hurting with these increases and they will have to bite the bullet also, and you know if they can't make their profit, they will cut jobs or pay, or good old uncle Sam will just have to pay more to keep them going. The main problem is how are they going to get the money to do that. Raise taxes. I think the public is just about tapped on the tax issue, houses foreclosed on, no tax there now. Automobile and Trucks repossessed, no fuel being used there. Jobs losses in the thousands per day. No income tax there. Unemployment at a all time high. Government paying out there. Now Chavez is getting threats from us and he just laughing at us. He cuts our supply of oil which is 12 - 15% of our oil supply, and then watch what we pay. What he cuts from us will be purchased from china. No loss to him. So when is the breaking point now. You know the stock market people will ask for another rate cut. If they do oil goes up more since our dollar is worth less. If they don't the market slides and everything goes up in price and the more of us go broke. My question is how long before socialism. That is just about the only way out of this with out a revolution here.

This is what I believe...

Abolishing our government, or attempting to fight it, is not prudent. We need to be very cautious of this action. If there is no American government...then there is the opportunity for another form of government. And this will literally throw us into a war over control.

I believe it's the influence of the select few, and the entities they use to influence, that's the force behind our government's actions. By uniting, standing up and speaking out in one voice as Americans is the action needed to impress upon our government to take the steps necessary to protect our way of life. Use our system the way our forefathers intended it to be. Either we smarten up and effectively organize, or accept the reality of war literally at our front door. I do not believe it's too late for the first. It requires all of us to change our mentality about our government and the process of our system.

You may think we are in a no win situation, you need to set a standard rate that you are willing to haul for. With the national average at 4.29 take this number and divide by 5 then take that number and multiply by 3. That is the minimum per mile rate you should pull for. Today that number is $2.57 and that includes the fuel surcharge. Remember that is the minimum based on a loaded 5 miles per gallon. If you feel that is high you can change that with the first number by using a 6 mpg or 7 mpg if you choose. We use 5 and do know our trucks are getting 6 to 7.
Price of fuel at national average divide by mpg times 3 will make you a reasonable profit to cover the fuel, maintenance, operating expenses and labor rate. Now you think we have no chance. You are wrong. If we don't haul freight for less than what I have said. The brokers are not getting paid to just sit their either. The companies who are not moving freight are not getting paid. The shippers who need to move the freight are not getting paid. The receivers who need the freight are not getting paid. The consumer who needs the product is not getting paid. The general public is not paying because it is not on the shelf or the cost is to high. Jobs are starting to get cut. People are signing up for assistance because they are unemployed. Companies are starting to cut back on help or closing their doors. The government is having to pay out on unemployed people in large numbers. When the unemployment rate goes above 5% the government is required to extend unemployment an additional 16 weeks. So more expense to the government. People and companies start to become late or not pay at all on their loans. Banks are getting put in more of a strain because of bad loan practices. The Federal Depositors Insurance Company is not going to bail out the banks for bad loans, but will pay back people of the bank that had money in the bank in good standing if the bank goes bankrupt. It has already started here, when people get hungry, they use their credit card to pay for food. The credit card industry has reported record purchases showing a spike in the economy, but fails to tell the truth if the people don't pay their credit card bills they will be heading for bankruptcy also and they are not backed by the FDIC in the same manor as a regular bank. When this hits, I am guessing it will be this around the end of this month, you will see the stock market reports hit with major losses and watch the market start sliding. We cannot afford another rate cut because the more we devalue the dollar, the more it will raise prices all around us. If the prices are raised we will stop purchasing anything but what is mandatory, and this means further businesses that make and sell things of no real need will fail. When people can't pay their utility bills and have their electric cut, heat, air conditioning and water, this is when I believe the Marshall law will be enacted. Now here is my solution to the problem and it is simple. We need to raise the interest rate back to 10%. This will make people start saving money again with incentive to do so. We need to open up our oil wells and refineries. This puts people back to work. We need to start fixing our infrastructure, so this will put people back to work on our roads. If we pay these people a living wage they will be earning good money that the government gets back in income tax, and the people will have money to spend to pay bills they owe and also allow them to by things they want. This means businesses start making and selling things again putting more people back to work and paying in. Then we start hauling more at a good rate. We have the ability to produce just about anything we need right here in our own country. We came out of a depression many many years ago and did fine until the last few years. We can do this again. This whole thing right now starts with us. DON'T HAUL ANYTHING FOR LESS THAN WHAT WE DESERVE. IT IS TIME FOR ACCOUNTABILITY AND THE TIME IS NOW!

This is true. This is how i figure my profits also. Good post. Flatbedpete.
