noise interferance

I am now driving a sterling day cab and when I run my heater I get a horrible buzzing noise though my cb. Ive tried regrounding but it did nothing. Is there any kind of noise filters I can get?

Also I am running a wilson 5000. It was hitting on the low bridges so I bent the whip back. Didnt seem to affect performance too much. Would it help to bend the very end so its pointed back at the sky instead of at the trailer.

Im only running a tuned cobra right now but I plan on getting a 10 meter. What brand do you recommend. Connex and Magnum are the ones that I have heard are good.

I did car audio for years so I can only give you general info. What you have is called ground loop interference. Try several different grounding points, not just one other one. MAke sure you are trying a different grounding path (for instance, if ground to the floorboard, do not try another spot on the floorboard. Basically you want the radio ground near the same point as the heater. Right now your grounds are too far apart and it creates that loop that picks up interference. One other thing to look for is to make sure you have good power. Don't just tap into any old power wire. It's best to have a dedicated power wire, even if it goes directly to the battery (fused within a foot of the battery if you go that route. If nothing works you can get a noise filter (aka isolator) at any Radio Shack or any place that sells car audio.

If the receive was "tuned up" you will never get rid of all the buzz, because the person who tuned the receive probably turned it up to much.

A radio I use to run with a Wilson 5000 would pick up passing cars heaters, fouled out spark plugs, windshield wipers, etc.

This might be the case with yours as well.

To fix it take the radio to a "good" tech who has the proper equipment to tune a radio, and have the receive turned back to normal.

Squeals, are usually caused by a bad ground or a short.

Does the squeal cut out your receive?

yes, when i talk i can hardly hear the other person. i went to ron's radio in wayne, ne. & he said it had something to do with my altanator. my altanator is charging just fine.

Well, there is a difference in a "squeal" and "Alternator noise".

Has the radio been "tuned and peaked?" What kind of radio is it? What kind of truck is it in? What kind of antenna are you using?

the radio i'm using is a corba 25 with a 3 ft. k40. i put a 4 ft. barjan on to see if i could get futher out. this radio is in a 2005 ford pu. i've driven semi's with radio's already installed. thanks for your imput.

Possibly, the receive was not properly set, and is turned up to high..

A lot of "Techs" like to mess with the receive, and usually mess them up. Causes the operator to pick up noise, and bleed over, lightning strikes, etc..
