a new detroit windor crossing has just been approved as of yesterday. project to start in 2011. great news for windsor and detoit as the jobs are much needed as is the crossing. the ambassador bridge is streatched to it s limit. sorry for manny maroon who owns the ambassador who wanted a piece of the action but not go.his greed and corruption but i digress. good for trade between the countries as delays at the border cost millions of dollers per day.hopefuly this will get detroit - windsor back on thier feet again a long time coming.congrats to the polititions for finnally doin what the ppl want and whats is needed for a change.

thanks for the news on this hope it makes things a bit smoother to cross with an extra crossing now..but I guess some of us still need a bit more documentation to make it over and back...lol

Detroit is the worse crossing in the U.S., especially for a big truck, the second worse has to be buffalo/niagra, I had gotten to the point where I refuse to use either of those P.O.E. Now I am lucky, I cross right down the road from me and we all know each other and it is a simple scan of my manifest and if their boss is there, a quick look at my license, 3 to 5 minutes at best, coming back is the same but sometimes there is a line at the x-ray machine that might add 10,15 minutes,, it takes me longer to fill out the crossing paperwork for the broker then it does to actually cross

your lucky lol.yup detroit windsor is one of the busiest ports for commercial traffic in north america

I know, I have been to Niagara when the trucks have been lined up across the bridge, and everytime I try to cross at Detroit, I get sent down the road for inspection, I am so glad I do not have to deal with that anymore, I would quit crossing if I had to,, Port Huron is not to bad, they are about as friendly as a mother grizzly but the wait is not to bad,, and some advice to anybody who is going to cross at the thousand Island POE DO NOT CALL THE FEMALE CUSTOMS AGENT SWEAT HEART OR DEAR, She will go drill instructor on you and you will know what a true level 5 inspection means
