The U.S. Energy Information Administration is reporting a significant drop – 21.6 cents – in the price of diesel to put the national average at $3.659 for this past week.
The national average price is still 62 cents per gallon higher than during the same week in 2007, according to the EIA report filed on Tuesday, Oct. 14. This is the first week since March that all nine regions are reporting diesel averaging below the $4 mark.
