Marten Makes Improvements To Driver Detention Pay

Mike

Effective July 1, drivers who arrive on time and are delayed by a shipper or receiver for more than two hours beyond the scheduled appointment time will automatically receive detention pay of $12 ($20 for independent contractors) per hour for every hour detained beyond the two hour limit, up to 11 hours.

Detention will be calculated in quarter-hour increments. For example, if a driver arrives on time for an 8 a.m. delivery and the receiver keeps him in the dock until 11:45 a.m., he will receive 1.75 hours of detention pay (3.75 hours - 2 hours allowed = 1.75 hours).

Starting 1/11/12 marten will pay $20.00 hr detention after 2 hrs at a few locations. Just got that message on the QC. But for all the other places its still $12.00. You don't have to ask for it, and you will get it on your next check.

That's real good detention. Some places will wait hrs before detention. With what Marten pays and only after 2 hrs who needs to drive.

Thats a great idea. Unfortunatly Marten will be undercut by some bottom feeder operation and lose the customers that they charge this fee to . It's a sad state of affairs in this industry but there is always some company out there willing to cut-throat and under cut . Transport companies need to get together and agree on what they are willing to work for , Otherwise we mantain the staus quo and they shipper sets the rates and terms and that is unacceptable , Transport vompanies provide a service and should be able to set the price and terms of the services they provide .
