Joinable Forums/Groups - A new way to access forums not viewable to guests and new members

As of today, I have created a new way to gain access to some forums with sensitive topics. I am hopeful that most will quickly understand how this works, and can help those who are stumbling along the way due to being unfamiliar with the forum.

We have two forums that can be joined.
  1. Politics
  2. Christianity
I am more than happy to open up more of these, particularly religion-related (but other things as well), but for the various other religions/beliefs, I will need an active member who can moderate those forums and is very familiar with the subject.

Each forum must be joined individually, and doing this is simple.

  1. Click on your name, and go to your preferences. Under your preferences, scroll to the check box for the forum you want to join and check the box. Check as many available boxes as you like.
  2. Allow a couple hours for access, should happen within an hour. This updates via a cron job once per hour. If you haven't seen the forums show up after a couple hours, send me a message and I will manually run it as soon as I get the opportunity. In the beginning, I will be manually running the cron job when I am online to get the initial members added.
This will allow posts from these forums to show up under the new posts section if you have joined. If you choose not to join, you will never see the forums to be tempted to click, nor will they show up under the new posts to annoy you.

You need to wear your big boy pants in these areas. If you are simply there to troll and not contribute to the discussions, you are easily removed.

If you realize what I am doing here, you realize that this opens up opportunities for all sorts of discussion areas that don't necessarily need to be made available to the public. If you are very active within the rest of the community, and there is something that you would like to build in this area and moderate, we can discuss it.

Any questions, post them here because others may have the same question as you.

@Rigjockey , since you are the only one I know of that used your freightcoin to join the premium access, I have went ahead and added you to the politics group. I will let you decide on the Christianity one for yourself.

I can't seem to find the Christianity one. I found the politics okay, just can't find the Christianity one.

Before I get too deep into this, I have decided to make these forums accessible for premium members.

With that decision, I will be doing an initial promotion of several members based on activity, membership time, etc.

With this, future members can gain access by subscribing to fee based premium membership or purchasing with FreightCoin once I get that up and rolling again.

I do my best to stay away from politics, because that is what is destroying the country little by little. I also don't subscribe to any type of religion because that is subjective to how you were raised and brainwashed into believing or not.

I hear ya! I left religion and I found God.

What in the **** is that supposed to mean?
Well, with all the religious stuff that Birchy was spouting in a bunch of threads a while back, I figured that you and he teamed up and went to church. ;)

Unless you ended up in jail. Everyone finds God when they get in jail. It looks good to the parole board.

Now onto your attitude... Did someone **** in your corn flakes? Or are you reading way too deep into this and feeling a bit guilty about something?

Too much butt hurt going on with people around here lately.

This is why the groups are blocked by default and you have to join if you want to access.

and we have no religion forums, only a Christianity forum.

That said, it's kind of false that you say you stay away from politics because you are just as guilty as some others and throwing in the political jabs on posts, which is the exact reason I made a separate private place for it. It's simply not good for the forum in a public environment and I never could get anybody to understand that.
