Human trafficking bills pass through committee

The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee moved forward on Wednesday, Aug. 2, with a pair of bills aimed at fighting human trafficking.

Bill S1532, the No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act, would impose a lifetime ban on truck drivers who use a commercial motor vehicle to commit a felony involving human trafficking. The bill was introduced by Sen. John Thune, R-S.D.
