How was your first few weeks of driving when you got your first OTR job?

Oh boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I absolutely HATED IT do doubt about it.Werner was my first company. The very first load I got was to Canada and with Hazmat none the less.I had to bobtail to Desmoines to pick it up from a couple who could'nt go into Canada and theres where the 2 months of hell began.I cried and cried.I could'nt read a map I could'nt understand the qualcomm.Friends helped me with trip planning.I can't even begin to tell u how many times I got lost. The next load out of Canada was going to Medley Florida thats in Miami area.Of course could'nt find a place and none of those cubans could speak a word of english. Finally a car hauler who lived around there helped me.Then my next ld was in Los Angelous fun there not. Then to Philli got lost of course took an exit to turn around only that wasnt a good exit.Thats when I found out east coast exits suckLOL Then a load going to down town chicago.I told my dispatcher to go easy on me im new. That was a huge mistake to say that.lolNow I can look back and laugh. The longer you're out here the easier it gets trust me.Actually it was longer then 2 months before I started feeling comfortable. But the first 2 months was the most hardest most stressful nothing good. When I got home I got myself a dog.Figured if I have to be out here on pins and needles im going to have a pet go thru it with me.LOLShes been with me every since.

I tell u what you're going to make mistakes out here, every body does. But you learn from your mistakes and u always plan a way out the longer you drive. You find little tricks and such that'll work. You may end up going in the wrong entry to the shp and receiver I did in Canada lol well I learned from that and have never did it again.LOLExits, i've take many bad exits thinken they're good and I still do but not too much.I try to look on the other side to see how that exit is and most the time my exit is good.I can't even begin to tell u how many drivers ive asked for help.Must of been 200 just for the load to Canada.Oh ya another nitemare ld was going to Dallas. Now it's easy but back then it sucked.

ya pretty much there isnt awhole lot of petros i would say thats my truckstop of choice theyve got good food im out in my trk because im too lazy to go inside and use the computer lol
