Garden pics

Looks yummy...I hope you enjoyed your fruits and veggies...lol...
Makes me miss my dad's garden especially the tomato's and watemelons and green beans and oh heck ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!.....LOL...

Damn them string beans are looking mighty good!

They are good. Had some the other nite, picked fresh that day, with mashed potatoes and gravy.......:runningaround:

The melons are small, but sweet, Becka just ate one.:happyfeet:

Alright now Rebel, your making me want some homegrown food! I love homegrown food! I can't stand that store brought fruit and veggies!

Are these black berries...???? YUMMY..makes me wanna make a blackberry cobbler..

Yes they are. Got'em from the driveway and off the front steps.
Only managed to get 1/2 dozen jars of jelly this year, but this was Becka's first year.
Ya know what's good?
Dry them in oven or dehydrator and stick'em in freezer. Buy some cheap cereal and add them on top.

Got a few hummingbird shots, too. They are hard suckers to photograph.

Have you ever tried a cuppa cake??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1 stick butter
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup milk
1 cup of sugar
2 cups berries
Melt the butter. Measure 1 cup of sugar and pour into a mixing bowl.Measure 1 cup self-rising flour and dump into the bowl. Whisk in 1 cup of milk. Mix together well.
Next add the melted butter into the bowl. Whisk together. Now butter a baking dish…
Now pour the batter into the buttered baking dish.Now start sprinkling the 2 cups of berries over the top of the batter.Try to distribute them evenly. Now, sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar evenly over the top. Because if some sugar is good, even more sugar is better*.
Now pop the dish into the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour, or until golden and bubbly. You can sprinkle an additional teaspoon of sugar over the cobbler 10 minutes before it’s done.
Our garden is just about done.
Still have a couple of watermelons, beans and the okra is just now coming out - what the deer didn't get.
Anyway, the photo model looks good.........
Not much fertilizer. Some cow manure and some MiracleGro mixed with water. I got some 55 gal. plastic barrels with spigots in the lids hooked to soaker hoses. About 2 days of rain will fill up a barrel under the gutter drain spout.
Funny you link this story! I heard a similar one not long ago.
My mother in law and I were just discussing this stuff today, and my brother in law had dropped off some veggies for us earlier!
We briefly discussed (what were called in WWII) Victory Gardens, where people started garden out of necessity because of food rationing for the war effort.
Seems history is repeating itself.
Yeah, we did it out of necessity too, the cost of produce at the stores is high.
There's not much flat land up here, but you'd be surprised how much that 20x20 ft. patch and some $2 packs of seeds will grow.
Next year I'm gonna put a dozen fruit trees down by the creek. Between that and the berries, my colon should be happy. LOL
