well something you NEED to consider is that, a company "may pay" up to 50¢ a mile...but how many miles are they offering you each week.

heck, a company can offer you up to 99¢ a mile, but if they only run you 500 miles a week, what did you earn..?? $495.00..!!

i was always told flat bed and tanker pay more than van and reefer.

but then too, there is heavy/specialized hauling as well..

i have always been a van driver, and till i retire in a few short years, i have "no gumption" to change over to anything else.

but if you are just starting out..?? then go for it, work hard.

for me, i'd like to "hardly work"......

LTL will get you miles. Even at, let's say, 52.5 cpm, with 2000 miles will gross you at $1050 for the week. We pay drop and hook and one fuel per night. Both are .25 of an hour at your hourly wage so you can still gross $1200-1300 a week. Not to shabby.
