Fire Destroys Atlas Trucking Building

Well-Known Member
It was a tough Easter Sunday for family and friends of one local business.
The Atlas Trucking Company building went up in flames around 7 a.m., sending one person to the hospital and leaving firefighters with a big blaze on their hands.

Nighttime security guard Charlie Hesson was inside the building when the blaze began.

Hesson was taken to the West Pennsylvania Burn Center in Pittsburgh. As of 10 p.m. Sunday, nurses reported he was stable.

Fire investigators say a space heater malfunctioned, causing the blaze. But propane tanks inside the building acted as a major accelerant.

Atlas owners spent the better part of Sunday afternoon sifting through the wreckage, trying to find the bits and pieces they can salvage.

Despite the total damage to the building, Atlas reports it will be open for business Monday morning.

They are moving their trucks to a nearby location.
