Hi Folks, I am doing an energy project and sure could use your help, if you would please post about any oilfields that you have read about that have been recently found or are not being utilized also please send links for proof.

Also please send info about any alternative energy sources or processes that you come across other than alcohol or bio-diesel that is not made from foodstocks.

this could actually be a rather important project, i was asked by an elected official the that I talked with this morning to see just what I could come up with on these subjects. we had gotten into the subject as we progressed on a conversation about the high cost and low rates that the trucking community has been enduring.
he was the one that brought up tight oil supplies and how there was little that could be done at the moment about it and as I started listing the new finds that i had heard about and also the possible alternatives to conventional oil that I had been reading about he got very interested and wanted me to gather sources of information about these subjects he was suprised to hear about some of them.
Folks this would be a great help and has a possibility of getting something done this, isn't a call to boycott, shutdown,send money write a bunch of people or anything other than spend a bit of time to let me know what you can find about these subjects so that I can put them all in one place and and get the info to a person that could actually do something with it so please PLEASE give me a hand on this project

I'll get ahold of a close friend of mine that works up in the Bakken play...as well as a couple of others here on the Barnett Shale. Maybe I can get them to agree to talk with ya on the "tight oil supply" bs. Will need a week or so to get ahold 'em.

As to alternatives outside of bio-diesel and alcohol...there's a farmer in Arkansas which has proven that a diesel/base oil mix of 2 to 1 burns cleaner than straight diesel. Only he points out, as I was already aware of, that the gov't will not allow commercial vehicles to pursue this cost saving - cleaner burning - fuel mix. As well as another individual which has actually developed hydrogen generators for automotive applications, which causes fuel to burn at a higher temperature - thus lowering emissions. If it is what I am thinking about, this is virtually a done deal, or might already be in use. Watched a deal a couple weeks ago where they are basically farming pond scum and turning it into biodiesel.

There is currently a company sequestering co2, which algea requires to grow as well as sunlight, from a power generating plant to grow algea. Then they farm the algea for many purposes...one of which is the great potential to create biofuel.

Now when ya really think about it...this is the direction these new energy freaks on the hill should be investing our money in. But then how could they benefit with the cap and trade policy their pursuing if it's discovered that co2 and sunlight are the key ingredients to generating biofuel from algea.

Once again our gov't decides to take our great country down a detrimental path.

Yeah SS. The cap & trade and carbon tax are dumb ideas. As far as it affecting these guys it would actually benefit them as long as they could keep getting their CO2. Since they are consumers of CO2 and not producers, they would be in high demand from plants trying to get rid of it.
But the whole idea is still dumb.
And the plan to pump CO2 into storage (sequestering) is down right scary. I don't think these guys have thought it thru and considered "unforeseen" consequences.
For instance, this would never work in Florida or anywhere else that sits on limestone.
That's high school chemistry.
Of course you have to ask yourself the question, "Why would these policies even be considered if there are alternatives to oil?"
I guess the stranglehold Big Oil has makes people do desperate things.
I like the idea of algae fuel.
Living in FL most of my life I always thought the pond scum and water hyacinths you see everywhere should be good for something.
