Eagle survives crash into semi truck

OGDEN, Utah (KSL/CNN) - A golden eagle is on the mend, recovering at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Ogden, Utah.
The tough bird took quite a header Tuesday when he flew through the windshield of a semi on Interstate 80 in Summit County. In fact, he landed right in the driver's lap.

Remarkably, both of them survived the head-on collision.
"We had a full set of X-rays, skull and wing and chest X-rays and they found no fractures whatsoever, which is just amazing. We fully expect, based on what we see right now, that we will be releasing him back into the wild," said Buz Marthaler with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.
The bird does have stitches in its scalp, superficial damage to its wing, and impaired vision in one eye.
The Wildlife Rehabilitation Center has rescued a thousand birds of prey this year.
