Cry Bbay Brokers

Flatbedpete

Drivers unite
Don't cry, your day is coming where you can get rich quick, you just need to speak spanish

now, now now Pete, you know we are suppose to pray for our enemies and pray I do just like the lyrics in the new song "I pray for you", says that is EXACTLY how I pray for them.

Really pal, I think you got brokers and politicians mixed up.

Alot of people have the mis-conception that becoming a broker is some get rich quick scheme. I feel soorry for them. Its nowhere near easy. It takes a long time to build your name and credit in this industry. Same as a driverr. You cant just go by tractor and trailer and get rich, same in a brokerage. It takes years of hard work to get enough clients to quit your primary job, you guys should really try not to judge the whole profession because of a couple a-holes.

google the hearings on H.B. 2910, if you can find it watch how OOIDA chewed up and spit out the rep from the brokers association during the hearings and showed just how most,[not all] the brokers was cheating the O/o's out of the fuel surcharge.

He has a point, there are good and bad same with us. That is what screws thing up. Now to add insult to injury. Since the rates are low and brokers do cry that their shippers and receivers wont pay a decent price. Escort vehicles we use cost $1,30 to $1.50 per mile. So go and figure that one out. We have our own and charge accordingly. So the next time a broker is crying about us, just throw it in his face a ford escort with a oversize banner on it makes as much. I can make you feel a little better, we at least use one ton trucks.

I wont say I could or would I advise anyone to trust anyone one working as a o/o and or broker. Even as a member of OOIDA. They don't know who the members r. We have a D.H. (dick head) here in Fl. who is running flats and drops under his numbers and ripping them off on f.s.c. and tarp money. A friend of our's is running under him get this $1.48 amile and they say that includes f.s.c. and for some odd reason never is there a tarp fee. So the drivers r being screwed out of tarp money.
They feed on drivers who have problems.........
Something needs done, All the b.s. rules they r putting on the trucks need to fall on the brokers as well.
That would brings the rates up. Just think if a driver gets a ticket so do you. Maybe not under the same point system but held to the point that too many the broker is fined and can not be protected under any bankruptcy. John Doe gave that load out John Doe's name is with it from start to end.

The big companies, and brokers have ruined this business all the way around. It is corrupt, and they know as long as their is dumb drivers they have a businesss. Infact they want the driver to be dumb, hence the saying dumb truck driver. Drivers are getting smarter, better watch your ass.

Therefore we have become smarter, and also crybabies. Just because we want to be paid a fair rate.

Cant really argue with you flat. I have never hauled or brokered flat bed loads other than an onion or potato load. I can see your frustration though when an escort is getting $1.50 or better. I see big trucks hauling 80k loads for less than that. Obviously something is broke there.

Yes it is broke, Have a question for ya.
3 trucks sitting now be honest.
Your's and 2 others, 3 loads. All going within 20 miles of each other.
1 pays 2.00 per mile the other 2 pay 1.75 which is your truck going to haul?

Well I would put my truck on it unless I had one of my regulars in the area then I would take care of them. But, before I did any of that I would call the shipper and tell them something like this.
Hey jon this is jj, I have a company there with 3 trucks ready to load but he wants the same rate for each truck. Almost every time the shipper will give that to me. Also, if it were seperate shippers I would call them and say hey, I have a truck right now ready to load, but hey frito lay is giving me $2.00 a mile and I will have to give them the truck unless you can match their rates. Again, in most cases the shipper needs the truck and will adjust the rates so he can lock the truck down. Not always, but in most cases.
Now at the same time, I do not run my truck through the brokerage, I have dedicated lanes already. It is also a very grey area and can end you up in trouble with the bank that gives the brokerage the floor plan for its revolving loans. I avoid it. I have been in the business a long time and have plenty of contacts so finding loads for my truck really is not an issue.
But you have a valid point, which is if in the situation which truck would get the load and I would look out for my family and business first in most cases. At the same time, I only have one truck, will be two sometime this week, and that situation has never occured. I dont broker many loads in the lane I run.
