Crete vs. Shaffer

If anyone has driven or is driving for either Crete or Shaffer or both, could you tell me the difference as far as customers and freight. Specifically, is there a big difference as far as general delivery and pickup times----because shaffer is mostly refridgerated loads and crete isn't.

Any other differences?

I know crete and shaffer are basically the same company which is why i'm asking about these two divisions specifically.

Which would you recommend and why?

My main goal would be to get as many miles as possible per week with not too urgent need to get home often.

if you have no urgent need to get home..??

they will both work out for you.

you just gotta decide, do you want to lump freight at the food warehouse, and NOT BE late with the perishables. personally, i wouldn't give refrigerated freight the time of day.

Agreed. I've pulled reefer for the last 2 years. Some dry freight but mostly frozen foods out and produce backhauls. I wouldn't pull a reefer for main loads ever again.

I did like pulling dry out and dry back with a reefer because of the option to get out of some hole because you could take a reefer load if you had to. I liked pulling apples out of the NW because the loads paid VERY well.

Easy money ....life can't get much better with these 1,000 plus mile trips on the loaded side

Even this one was like 220 empty miles with like 832 loaded miles

In the central states its good real good

Shaffer pays a penny more per mile tho I can live without it

Mostly drop an hook

Or its preloaded then live unload

Or its live load an the drop

Although shaffer has a higher mileage average per trip than crete does each year

And if u do start out @ shaffer you can switch too crete

I make usually 900-1200 per week

Got a brand new prostar that is most kool

It looks like a ****star an rides like one too

The seat in these truks are superb

5 air cushon supports an back cycler option

Its got a batter powered AC/Heater system for the bunk

No idling which is way cooler than any freakin noisy azz

Lawnmower engine apu piece of chit

Ya watchout cause the other drivers will tell you how terrible this carrier

I noticed that they have both names in the door now, was curious if they still kept the operations separate or not.

I enjoyed my time with Crete.

Do they still offer a choice of loads for OTR drivers?

Yes the ops are seperate still have New Kingstown,Pa for Shaffer

And Lincoln,Ne

I would agree with you Mike .....really its been a good all in all

No more load offer here the last couple years you'd rarely get mutliple loads too chose from

I just did an eazy month there with what I put down plus I had a reset in waterville,me

Then I got thru the house twice

And up state New York is a cake walk well I guess I 84 really isn't too upstate
butt still anything that doesn't delivery too long island is a pain in the ass

Unless you've been too the toilet bowl enough you knw your way around

The company is going. Too a dispatch system/ASSET MANAGER

OH YES WOW WEE WOW...WERE MOVIN ON UP

SO FARR I LIKE IT THEY BEEN DOIN VERY WELL ATLEAST FOR ME
MY TRIPS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES

I DON'T CARE FOR THE NORTHEAST MUCH EITHER

THO WHEN ITS UP A BACK HOW CAN YOU ARGUE WITH THAT

THE NEW SYSTEM IS USUALY THE DAY BEFORE YOU EMPTY

THEY PREPLAN ON YOUR NEXT LOAD ...SO YOU KNOW

WHERE AN WHEN YOUR TO BEE WHERE AN IF YOU CANT MAKE

YOU TELL UM WHEN YOU SEND THE PREPLAN COMMITMENT MESSAGE

YES OR NO ITS PRETTY SIMPLE. FOLK EVEN THE SLOW ONES CAN FIGURE THIS OUT

I was just about to give Crete a call a few months ago, but got a nice raise where I am at so decided against it. Definitely never had any complaints with them though.

It does and you spelled it wrong

Creatan

And you bess check under you bed for us tonight

Sorry, but I did NOT spell it wrong...
From Merriam Webster:

Definition of CRETIN

1
often offensive: one afflicted with cretinism

2
: a stupid, vulgar, or insensitive person : clod, lout

cre·tin·ous \-t[SUP]ə[/SUP]n-əs\adjective

THe definition was NOT....I repeat NOT intended for you, simply intended to show the correct spelling of CRETIN.
No offense meant.

Next time you might want to do some research BEFORE you tell someone they are wrong....
