ATA recognized Shewchuk for providing the leadership, direction and support necessary to grow the Council. The group previously honored him with its Security Professional of the Year Award in 2005, Transportation Loss Prevention & Security Council’s Chairman’s Award in 2000 and Executive Director’s Service Award in 1997.

“We are honoring Curt for his longtime vision and vigilance in leading our industry in the protection of members’ fleet operations, facilities and the shipping community’s goods,” said Susan Chandler, executive director, Security Council of ATA. “His leadership and insight have been immeasurably valuable as we have worked to take the Security Council to the next level.”

“Curt’s longtime contributions to ATA, the Con-way enterprise and the industry as a whole make him the ideal recipient of this important recognition, and we are proud of his accomplishments,” said John G. Labrie, president, Con-way Freight. “He has been a true leader as National Chairman of the Security Council and in his work not only with ATA but also with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security and local law enforcement authorities.”
