Ok whats the difference between the regular Cobra LTD 29 and the CHROME ones?

I like CHROME LOL :banana1:

If I did drive an 18 wheeler I would be broke cause I really like the color or "metal"

It's NOT Chrome spray paint as it is the plastic Chrome covering.
For A Few Dollars More (I've been waiting to place this), one can have the sooper dooper Chrome looker yet not get out any further than a standard looking one.

Who goes faster: the truck with 22.5 tires or 24.5?!
Who really cares?!

Make sure though that if ya really want the chrome job, to get the chrome looking Mic with the rest of the chrome looking stuff and be sure to as well outfit your Instrument panel with the chrome fittings.
Chrome eyelids work well on XL Classics as do the chrome chicken lights and ANYTHING ELSE that has chrome or the appearance of to be added.

..just more to clean..end of line

No difference. They are both poorly made radios that were thrown together as fast as it could be. If you want a good Cobra 29 then look on EBay and find one that was made in the Philippines. These have better parts, cleaner receive, better sound quality as well as build quality and can be had for less than a new one and will out last it as well!

I wouldn't mind having one of the new Cobra blue tooth CB's, if I was going to run a stock radio (which would never happen, LOL)

my only concern about the chrome one would be i wonder if the sun would reflect off of it and shine in the eyes of the driver.

Good point. You can buy chrome cases for for most radios. A few of the drivers I've met who have the "dolled-up" radios keep them covered so no one will get the urge to steal it, and, they cover the back-lit jeweled knobs with a rag at night so they won't be blinded by that.

Did you know, there is a L.E.D. light for the signal meter that will change colors. At first glance it cool. A friend had one put in his radio, and, within two weeks he had it covered with electrical tape. He said it bugged the crap out of him.

I like plain, but, powerful....

Somehow I post about one thing on here and end up finding out about 900 other things sometimes not even related to whats going on but I dont' mind, I kinda like it!

Thats fine by me. Half the time I just wonder about things and then I post about it getting other people's opinions and well this is where it leads LOL What til ya see the next one.

If you are talking about new radios, the 78 is best. A few years back, Uniden owned Cobra and they were basically the same thing. The company that most recently bought Cobra started making them cheap and is just riding on Cobra's previous reputation now.

I believe that a company called Giant is making the Cobras and Unidens they are made in there plants in China. To me the Uniden board is sturdier but both tune , align and receive close to one another.

can u recommend a good mic for my uniden 78 i had an astatic road devil but it crapped out on me (its not the battery i put in a new one)

Road King (RK56) is the only way to go... If you can find an older, used, one to refurbish you'll really be top shelf, 'cause they were a little better quality than the new ones. I would still purchase a new RK56 as opposed to anything else offered, though. You just can't beat that studio quality sound you'll get.

thnx appreciat the come back copy the rk 56. i thought they kinda looked cheap but iv heard alot of good things about them from alotta ppl. maybe ill try that.p.s what do uthink about the astatic road devil?

Turner Road King is a good choice. At times I have used the Skythumper 65 which produces about a third more gain than the RK 56, the astatic is decent mike rob, it is an amplified noise cancelling mic where as the Skythumper or the Road King is not 9 volt battery operated..

There is no difference in the radios. the chrome and the classic 29 plus the uniden 78 is all the same

I can take a schemetic from all of them and line them up side by side.

now the 2012-2013 edition cobra renamed thier pots inside
the uniden 680 880 and 980 are a little diffrent too

smaller solder but looks wise of all radios cobra chrome is sweet looking
