Carriers concerned over passing of cap 'n trade bill
WASHINGTON -- The U.S. House has passed a energy bill that includes a “cap and trade” provision and trucking fleets aren't happy.
The American Clean Energy and Security Act was passed on Friday by a 219-212 vote over the objections of the trucking industry and other business groups.
While the American Trucking Associations says it supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote energy independence, it continues to have "strong reservations" about the legislation, which is strongly backed by the Obama white House.

So Washington rather listen to the ATA who have no "real" knowledge of the trucking industry instead of the trucking companies.

Actually, it appears that those inside the beltway pay little attention to anything America tries to tell them, ATA or otherwise.

With that said, it should be noted that the ATA is the trucking lap dog of those in government, and, their lobbying is quite effective. The ATA is made up of trucking companies, most of them the mega carriers the rest of us have learned to hate. They try to gain a legislative advantage over the non-member companies competing for the same transportation dollars.

I agree with that it seems like the mega carriers are out of touch with reality, then again all they care about is putting warm bodies into the seats of them trucks to make them more money.
