Canadian police charged a Toronto man, Mahmoud Yadegari, with attempting to illegally export devices that could be used for enriching uranium.
The device is a “pressure transducer” and has legitimate commercial uses, according to a statement today from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The police are scheduled to hold a press conference on the charges at 1 p.m. in Toronto.
Yadegari, a truck driver, was trying to import two transducers from the U.S. and send them to Dubai, with their end user still under investigation, RCMP Sergeant Marc LaPorte said in a telephone interview.
