can I use a single axle tractor?

My trailer is a 40 ft steel Tandem Axle flatbed. I guess it weighs around 10,000 pounds. My load will Never Change and it will weigh less than 25,000 pounds, giving me a Gross Load weight of 35,000 Max. A single axle tractor with front of 12,000 and rear of 20,000 total 32,000. I think I will be OK with a Single Axle, but before I pull the trigger I would like to confirm, from those who do know! Thanks All!

Unless I'm missing something you should be able to gross 72,000.

12,000 steer
20,000 drive
40,000 trailer tandem

No sure about drive. It's either 20,000 or 17,000 for a single drive.

If it's a closed trailer tandem, it would only be good for 34,000.

12,000 steer
20,000 drive
34,000 trailer

66,000 gross

20K for a single drive or single trailer axle (or spread axles) as long as it is rated for it. AK7 is right.
