Any Thoughts As To The Best Of The Woarst Starter Co.

I've been reading around the Forum a few days now and trying to find a starter Co. to look at. From what I can tell the companies that hire from my area(Tampa) would be Werner(I've ruled them out as there is just too much about them being terrible), Covenant, CRST, Swift, Stevens and US Express.
So is there a best of the worst or even a worst of the worst?
Who is going to keep you working and who is going to train you the best?
But I have to say I'm 56 and I don't want to get stuck with some guy for even a week if they are a chain smoker and they have pretty bad Hygene practices. That doesn't show any professionalism to me either. So the quality of personnel of the company I think should also be a factor. Also equipment.

Yes there is.

Sorry bud, wish I could help, but my "starter company" isn't a starter company. I lucked out and BS'd my way inot a pretty good outfit. The equipment is newer and fairly well maintained, most of the people are really good people (which offsets he not so good people), and so far this year I have logged over 94,000 miles.

I can't complain. And I was fortunate enough to not have to go through the CDL mills and "starter companies" that only care about the bottom line.

I started at USA 4 yrs ago. It wasnt that bad. Wouldnt suggest Werner or Swift. Schneider wouldnt be too bad and they have Many different divisions for when you get some experience.

An experienced driver and cdl instructor once said, "Put all the starter companies in a sack shake them up, dump them out, and they will all fall the same. In other words they are all pretty much the same. One might offer a penny or two per mile more, another might have more generous benefits, etc, etc. You just have to look at those little things and decide what is a better match for you personally. It seems like finding a good trucking company is like finding a compatible spouse/mate. The love of your life might just be someone else's ex (and worst nightmare), LOL

Be not concerned with text as there ARE MANY OF US that usually spel werds as they sownd and if one challenges such spailins, one might wail be booted away, so weird spelins aint no big deel.

Tha Woarst uv tha Wurst Startur Cumpanees may well be cr england, however there are other opinions too.
Too bad Schneider quit their Training program in '08 (howeva they may well have resurrected it).
Even though you're in Florida, there ARE choices AND there are Florida Based Companies too that may well have Starter programs.

In compatibility for a Trainer, be not concerned with getting matched to a Smoker if you don't Smoke, for Companies want their Trainees to be comfortable in Training or reasonably so. Usually it's men with men, however it's also been women with men.
IF there are problems with a Trainers' Hygiene, such can be fronted with the Trainer or with Dispatch AND Safety.

Personally, I would check ALL available Companies in Florida FIRST before embarking upon journeys to out of state companies, because of extended Bus Rides (being the cheapest alternative).

USX has automatics and really prefers teams. I don't think USA hires out of FL.

Arent they together with PAM and Averitt? If I remember correctly you have tolive in their hiring area before they even look at your application. Which in my case would mean I have to move to Texas without a guarantee that they might even take me into their Training programm. I have a Class A but no experience. I would love to get the heck out of California, but need to have work first. PAM sounded good because of the Automatic Shift, but I never heard back from them. (probably because I am in CA)
