I hear loud and clear what you're saying silver.Aperson working at McDonalds is making more then the average driver it seems.The last company I drove for,some weeks were better then others.But I had to be creative to do so and my boss was ALL FOR THAT.That's one of many reasons I liked that company.He did'nt have any rules.All he cared about was getting the load delivered on time and he paid real well.

The DOT like any government department need to feel like theyre controlling something - most truckers are more than capable of taking care of themselves but i guess having strict HOS laws is a protection from slave driving fleet owners who happily try to bully their drivers

If they are going to continue this push to cut our driving hours, they should just go ahead and cut it to 8 hours.

At that point, we should all go on strike for minimum daily pay, and a per mile rate of no less that .55/Mile

Actually, a minimum pay guarantee may be factored into the decision on where I end up going back OTR at.

ther won t be a need to strike becouse of the cost of transportation from that action will drive the price of everything sky high

They do something like that , then it should go on an hourly rate.

i v said that for yrs thres no reason why at the end of the day sometimes we average 9.00$ an hour.some days r better than others of coures. i couldn t agree more

$9.00/hr? my last job at the Zinc mine, we were making $23.00 and some thought we were underpaid, we earned it, 12-14hr days, 5 days a week, we loaded our own trucks(not a big deal, using huge front end loaders to load them with) 2 trips a day from Balmat NY to Montreal Can. Hauling 107,000 pounds in the winter and summer only hauled 93,000 pounds in the spring because of the frost law in Quebec. I don't think an OTR company driver should average any less then $15 per drive hour, anything less and you are working very cheap, O/O obviously need to make 4 times that at least to make it
