Nope, You are not required to take a break, You could drive 13 hour straight if your bladder can take it.
The 36 hour reset is just like the 34 but 36 is 36 hours and not between any given hours like the FMCSA Period dictating the hours between overnights.
Be sure to mark your start time, Your start mileage and end mileage.total up your mileage. Canadian LEO's are pretty basic and need this all spelled out for them.
You can stay on mileage and need not use kilometers, **** em! Let the Leo's do the math.
Basically, 16 hour window. 15 hours on duty, 13 hours drive time. If you stay on U.S hours of service you will never be in violation. The reset is 36 hours and not 34. you get 70 hours in 7 days and not 8.
It gets more complicated but those are the basics.
