Motor Carrier EC's Going For It

"Driver shortage" 🙄
I'm not the first, certainly won't be the last.

There's only maybe 15 drivers in all at any give time and I personally know one who left Oct 31 and another who left in like June or so. And mentions of at least one or two more who left somewhere along the lines that I knew of but didn't really keep in touch with. I don't even know who might have left without any fanfare because the group chat in my phone is mostly numbers, not names, and I'm not social enough to know many people. Nor would I notice a particular phone number being in an old group chat and not a new one.

IMHO that's kind of a high turnover in a short time for such a small office. Especially for owner operators where the stakes are higher.

I have no idea what's happening at other offices (terminals, hubs, whatever you want to call them).

I meant that the actions of companies like that are proof that there is no driver shortage.

If there really was a shortage, they'd treat their drivers better.

Got my DOT# today. It's such an awkward number. I don't like it.
All you need now is your MC.

Don't worry, you don't need a sleeper. Just do what I did. Buy a sleeper kit. Some hardware stores sell them now dirt cheap....

$2.75 after taxes. And you do not even have to log Sleeper Berth.
Took me 3 seconds to install. Stretched out nicely today for a 45 minute nap waiting to unload.

Yeah I'm lazily letting a processor handle it and my IFTA and such. I'm using the time to be productive and potato it up on the couch.

You have a Peterbilt in your avatar but you're in a Volvo.. 🤔

Don’t longboxes usually rate at 65K gross? Would be nice if freight paid a dollar a pound
It cost $11 something to send license plates to my dad in Tennessee, via UPS ground.

A little early to do so but my insurance policy is in effect and I've chosen an ELD.

Since I know my MC and DOT numbers I can go ahead and get decals on the truck. I'll probably wait until I have my apportioned registration though. I could probably get away with it since it's only 5 miles from my house (across the road from the rail) but I'm not sure it's worth risking. I can at least get the designs made.
