Freight Relocators driver check call. Check in early and often!

Guy beside me just started yelling at the truck driver who parked beside him with the reefer running. Thought they were gonna fight for a minute.

Dudes gonna really be pissed when I turn on the microwave and my APU cranks up in his ear.

Classic! What is reefer man supposed to do, Shut down the reefer and lose the load?
I think most drivers are cool with reefers and APU's when they are not cycling on and off.
Reefers running all night steady is like white noise to most truckers.

The guy is just cranky as hell. He got pissed and went to his sleeper when my APU fired up.

By the way, I’m at the Ayerco in Canton, MO. Last time I was here, I fueled up, and ended up gelling/icing up overnight in Brooklyn, IA.

This place is dead. They have a Steak and Shake, but it is only open from 10-7 due to staffing issues. I’m guessing they make the pizza for the store as well, because there is no pizza.

Short drive to Keokuk, IA to unload in the morning. From there, 16 miles to my reload in Fort Madison, then it’s off to California. Wasn’t planning on a long load, but they contacted me and accepted my offer on the spot. Guess I’m stuck with it at that point. Deliver between Sacramento and San Francisco on Monday morning.

Just read the small print on the rate con for my next load. No pets at the shipper. This could be interesting.

The most effective way to get a driver to slow down is to make him buy his own fuel.

I always wanted to go faster faster faster in a company truck. But now that I'm paying for it I'll happily let everyone blow my doors off as long as I can finish on time.

Those LiDAR systems are expensive. A good one will cost as much as the machine it is mounted to.

I had all of my permits for the entire trip by 9 o’clock Friday morning.

Michigan restrict movement over 10 feet on weekends. At least according to my permit. Good thing I’m only 9’8”
I once had to bobtail to Indiana hook and chain a 11 or 12 wide dump wagon sitting on our RGN then take it to Quebec. They allowed a driver to drop it at a truck stop and go home rather than sit on it all Labour Day weekend. Bold move, Cotton.

That's easy to say when you never run west of the Mississippi.

Maybe you should implement a fuel bonus at your company for your driver.
I know when I worked for a company that offered a bonus for saving fuel, I did my level best to save fuel and get that bonus.

Maybe make a suggestion to management and you can talk to yourself. :rolllaugh:

In my own car I don't ever mash on the gas and I coast to red lights.
(save on gas and brakes and wear and tear)
Keep an eye on tire air pressure for fuel savings.

I save money! Maybe one day I can afford, My next car or Atari gaming system.
We will see how it goes.

It'll never work. Too much red tape and companies never like spending money on drivers.

I put it in the suggestion box. It was rejected for budgetary reasons.

Yeah I finally cracked 7mpg on Tuesday pretending I was Schneider and couldn't go over 62. Normally I'd pass slow pokes but I backed off instead.

Gotta remember I have no fairings or skirts and a helluva lot of space between my low roof cab and the dead square container box. So that was actually good.

For comparison, my IFTA statement says I averaged 5.65 for the quarter while the fleet averaged 4.92 and the entire company averaged 5.21.

At Schneider, the fuel bonus target was 6.5 and I'd usually get 7.2-7.5. Being on nights and almost always dispatched on the long routes it was easy to get better numbers.

I tried doing Lease Purchase program about oh I dunno 10/12 years ago..

Always was this guy around the yard talked about how he had 2 trucks now and was gonna build a "Fleet" once he had 5 or 6 trucks was gonna get his own Authority Too..

Turns out that F-word worked in the Office ...

He'd hang around the yard talk about oh you guys is "Company Drivers"..

Tell a shot load of trucking stories and stacking up Bank..

I think his actual job was to "Hook Ya" into a Lease Purchase Deal and his pay was a "Commission" for each Sign Up..

That SOB probably never even drove a Truck but he could sure Hang Out like he was stuck at the Yard on a 34 and talk up the LEASE PURCHASE "Deal"..

After oh about 6months or so I came back to yard on a Sunday Night..

Left the Comdata card, Keys, and Paperwork and receipts on the seat ...

Said I was on HOME TIME so they atleast Paid me for those..

And I pulled about $500 bucks in "Cash Advance" on a Com heck and afterwards I bought a new phone Changed my Phone Number..

That's on my DAC REPORT too but eh I left it at my home terminal ..

And a DAC REPORT ain't what it used to be when I first started.
Ok...
