Coffee pot as an alarm clock

I haven’t had to listen to my alarm clock in about a week now. A few nights ago, I needed to get up really early so decided to get coffee ready the night before and set it to start brewing about 10 minutes before my alarm clock would be waking me up. I was getting up at something like 2:00am.

Sure enough, coffee started brewing and to my surprise it immediately woke me up. Not the noise, but the smell. It was a much better way to wake up than hearing the alarm.

Since then, I had gotten the coffee ready the night before and set it for about 5 minutes before the alarm goes off and it has woke me up each and every morning.

I still set the alarm because I don’t trust this to keep working, but for a week or so now I haven’t had to hear the alarm.

Probably because you bought the fancy ones. Mine is the $9.99 cheap one from Walmart that only makes 5 cups.

I think it was actually cheaper than that when I bought it a few years ago.

It'll work for a while and then you'll start dreaming that you're in a coffee shop in Gaye París and won't want to wake up.

Or you'll dream that you're a Colombian drug lord with a coffee plantation as a front. Still won't want to wake up until a rival gang shows up.

I lied, it’s the $12.99 one that I have now. The old really cheap one still worked but the wife refused to let me take it out in the new truck because of how bad the pot looked. She was afraid it would give me covid.

So, we stepped up in the world and got Mr. Coffee instead of another really cheap Mainstays brand.

I bought a fancy one with an LCD display. The LCD display burned out within 3 months and it can't be programmed anymore, because you can't see what you're setting it on.

Total BS. Once it's totally done or I want to program again, I'm going back to cheapies.

Honestly, if I could find the room for it in the truck, my next one would be the type that grinds beans, makes hot coffee, and cold coffee.

And an ice maker. I need to find a place for that as well.

I need a bigger truck, besides, this one is getting old anyway.

I'm surprised they haven't made a 12 volt truck/RV version of the keurig machine yet.

They'd be perfect in a truck if they were designed a bit differently.

First you'd need it to be 12 volts, and secondly the water reservoir would need to be designed more like a lawnmower gas tank with a diaphragm-type check valve in the cap that lets air in to replace the water when you use it, but won't let water splash out. The tank would need to be latched in place. Regular keurig machines water tanks are just set in place and held only by gravity.

Since 12 volt heating elements are slow, the timer would have to start 15 minutes early, so if you set it for 6AM it would start heating the water at 5:45 but not actually brew any coffee til you put a k-cup in and hit the button.

In manual mode, heating element on all the time, it would need an LED battery icon that comes on whenever the supply voltage is below 13 so idiots don't run down their batteries at night. But the manual mode would be so you can have coffee any time during the day when you're awake and the engine is running.

My guy was talking about burning CDs and sending them through the mail just the other week. 😃
Rush University Medical Center, cutting edge research & teaching hospital, mailed Sarah three CDs with videos from her CT scans, brain clot removal procedure and heart ultrasound the other day.

Go tell them they're outdated. 😁

That is a far more civilized way to wake up rather than being jolted awake by an obnoxious alarm. Even if you have an alarm as a back up it won't be as jolting.
I have no proof but it is my theory that alarm clocks are the leading cause of heart attacks. It is only a theory and my research continues.
I will let you know if I am right the morning I have my first heart attack.
