If the company is truly cutting 3.2 million gallons of fuel consumption, I would expect that that 12 Million dollars in savings should be heavily factored into the payroll of the drivers.

Any chance that will happen? Probably not.

i was talking with a former co-worker buddy of mine. he is with Celadon. he was telling me the trucks there are getting (or have been) cut back to 65-66 mph.........

the company "estimated" about 400,000 gallons of diesel will not be wasted...per year...........

AND IF a driver doesn't meet fuel requirements, they cut back his engine EVEN MORE for a while, then slowly bring it back up when he meets the fuel requirements.

you got to figure though, drivers really don't care about fuel.....it ain't their "dime" they are driving on........

excessive idling, idling the truck when you ain't even in it, like you're in the truckstop, is wasting fuel to no end. for sleeping or resting, then sure, idle it, but, BE IN THE TRUCK....

not all companies will install APU's, as my friend told me, Celadon trades in thier trucks (about) every 3-4 years(?)........
