OK. I am about to purchase a new truck and i dont know which one i should get. My options are The 2007 Freightliner Century Class, The 2007 Kenworth T600, Or the Peterbilt 387. All of them have 475 Kitty Cats in them and are all 13 speed. I like the peety cause it looks nicer than the other ones. Which ones should i Choose. Whats your opinion?

Also you may want to take into consideration fuel mileage, because like everything else, diesel just keeps rising :(

I was just looking around today at that very question. Just for the heck of it. I try to avoid the Pete's becouse they are pretty pricey and kind of cramp. But I was impressed by the KW. From what I gathered, you can get the same intieriors as a W900 in the W600's. Thats kinda nice. Looks like they have a great non-emissions power gadget too that Heat and Cools the cab without idling (and powers). Thats money saved right there.

very good point. and from my current experience with the 389 Pete, that thing does not get good fuel mileage. Not sure if it is due to the auto-shift, or that the truck is new, but I am still getting under 6.5 mpg, running 67 mph max.

Or maybe its the flat face! lol

I used to be a die hard cat fan till the rise of the cost got me,then I found my way into a detroit.Yeah I know alot of guys frown on them, but because they use a bigger, more free spinning turbo, they actually get better fuel milage. So they fight a little harder on hills, but you can cure that by upgrades-Turbo city! Or compramise and get a cummins-somewhere between a Detoit and a Cat. As for trucks,it's pretty much up to your preference, but remember,Freightliners' interiors start becoming rattley and squeeky after a few thousand miles.I've driven a T600,but never the 387 so I can't compare or give opinion on that, but the T600 was great,go for the bigger sleeper if you can find it though, you'll appreciate the extra room when dressing or cleaning house.

In my opinion and i have drove a lot of trucks over the years, the is my favorite hands down. thats what i drive and all i will drive unless i just absolutely can not get one.

I would give them a close look and see what you think about it after you look at all the specs on them.

You didn't list which truck is your favorite ;)

T600 is the best choice in my opinion in what you listed. On the other hand if you only driven Freighliner, stick with what you know.

(2006 T600 KW C-15 accert,never had a problem 410k strong)

I pity you Yanks. Choice of truck over there seems pretty limited to design choices that have been around since the 60's. Too bad you don't get the latest European stuff there because once you drive something like that you would never want to go back the North American style vehicles. I have driven a CH Mack, for half a day only though as it was just garbage and quit. And also a shakerliner which was just as bad.
My pick out of the North Americans would be a Western Star. I don't know if you can get those there though.

If the economy hadn't gone bad last year I would be sitting in a brand new MAN TGA 26.480....................but I have to stick to my F2000 26.463. Just as good except for the Road ranger box.

get a t600 or a 660. but i wouldnt go with a cat. get a cummings if you can. cat is not going to be putting engines in otr trucks any more. i have a 96 t600 with a redtop in it and i get 6.8 on avg.

I would first make sure you have a contract for continued work before signing on the dotted line. We have never purchased a new truck since we started. We do just fine with older equipment, in fact we have no problems compared to the new trucks with the new emission systems. I run Cats in all my equipment which are Pete's. I like the Pete's, but that was my choice. They are all good if set up right. Not all of the trucks I own were O/O spec trucks, but they were converted at far less cost than new. We have all mechanical with a minimum of 500HP and 15 18 or 20 speed transmissions and 373 ratio rears as the highest road gear. This is what works for us and the newest truck in the fleet is a 1996. Its not a problem for us to take a 10 G truck and throw 40 more in it and have a better truck than what I can buy for the price of the new ones available. If you are worried about Carb standards, you are only required to meet the standard in place of the vehicle at the time of manufacture. No state has the authority to place in effect a law that is more stringent than the Federal law in effect.

However, the Secretary may prescribe, for a motor vehicle operated by a carrier subject to subchapter I of chapter 135, a safety regulation that imposes a higher standard of performance after manufacture than that required by an applicable standard in effect at the time of manufacture. (b) Preemption. - (1) When a motor vehicle safety standard is in effect under this chapter, a State or a political subdivision of a State may prescribe or continue in effect a standard applicable to the same aspect of performance of a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment only if the standard is identical to the standard prescribed under this chapter.

However, the United States Government, a State, or a political subdivision of a State may prescribe a standard for a motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment obtained for its own use that imposes a higher performance requirement than that required by the otherwise applicable standard under this chapter. (2) A State may enforce a standard that is identical to a standard prescribed under this chapter. (c) Antitrust Laws. - This chapter does not - (1) exempt from the antitrust laws conduct that is unlawful under those laws; or (2) prohibit under the antitrust laws conduct that is lawful under those laws. (d) Warranty Obligations and Additional Legal Rights and Remedies. - Sections 30117(b), 30118-30121, 30166(f), and 30167(a) and (b) of this title do not establish or affect a warranty obligation under a law of the United States or a State. A remedy under those sections and sections 30161 and 30162 of this title is in addition to other rights and remedies under other laws of the United States or a State. (e) Common Law Liability. - Compliance with a motor vehicle safety standard prescribed under this chapter does not exempt a person from liability at common law.

Hope this clears things up. California will bankrupt from lawsuits for violating this
