The Island of Misfit Toys

Ahh, the memories this brings back. Haven't seen one in years....

Damn man, it's been a weird couple days. Ran like the devil for both. Burned my entire 14 on both. Met the dumbest driver I've ever encountered, bar none, and by a long shot. Actually had a good experience at a Kroger DC (WTF?). Dealt with a lumper service that actually works and is efficient (double WTF?) AND didn't rip me off. I get reimbursed for lumpers of course, but it's nice when I can cover it on my own now and deal with reimbursement later. Saves a lot of time and hassle when you're low on remaining time. I made it to a parking spot in time to do my company-required 15 minute post trip and log off. 7 minutes to spare. Pretty sure this is the first time I've ever parked this late, pulled my brakes at 23:30. There was a surprising amount of traffic for a Saturday night. Granted, I don't know this area real well, but damn. Apparently Detroit is hoppin' on a Saturday. And I'm staying at the legendary Detroiter tonight. Heard stories but never made it here. There's a BW3 across the street, so here I sit waiting on the 3rd best wings In the country. Last few days have been good but I'm f'ing whooped. Sleep will come fast tonight fo sho. Cheers y'all.

Yeah, I didn't notice the blurry part, just put it up there because it shows 30 some minutes of my clock used up and 187 miles covered.
Love my company, but they woulda had a fit. They are so tight on everything. I would've heard about that even if it wasn't my f-up. Biding my time with them. Gonna hang here for a year or so then I'm spreading my wings. It's time, and I'm not gonna drag it out. Took exactly 4 months of running like this to know that all trucking companies suck. It's good here, for sure. But I can do it better than you. Get rid of the worthless office chicks in my life and all will be good. It's time to get my own authority.

I'm gonna find out tomorrow what I've got inside me. Promised mama I'd be home tomorrow night. I need it if I'm gonna get a much needed reset before my delivery on Monday morning. Not really sure how to feel about myself at the moment. I figured out life over here WAY faster than my last job. However...some of the tricks I discovered seem like they should have been obvious sooner. And probably would have been by folks holding a brighter bulb than mine. I'll take it though. Four months is much better than 18 like my previous job. Made connections much faster, and learned scheduling much faster than my last go-round. Looking forward to my next check, fo shizzle.

Thanks man, really. I haven't been in the O/O game long enough to have learned the subtle things that will now be obvious. It just took a real giant step back so that I could see the forest instead of the individual trees. That and some suggestions from old dogs I have on speed dial. Old dogs... gotta love those guys.

Don’t sweat it. You stepped up and took the leap... that alone is most of the battle

Now, the old dogs you talk to mighta also had relationships they built over years. You aint bein fair to yerself to expect that to happen overnight. Nobody starts out a expert

Some did, some didn't. But I can always smell a real old dog when they're in ny proximity. I listen every time they talk. If I can dodge a bullet by listening, I surely will. I love this side of the fence but it i feel that you have to get hit a few times with a baseball bat to learn what you need to know. I've got my bruises and always ready to learn.
