Misunderstood
Hoping there may be some other sportsman here. My life kind of revolves around the pursuit of the outdoors. It's a slow time of year about all there is to do is some spearing and my weekly trail camera checks. I'll post a few pics from last year's hunting season, current trail cam pics, food plots I planted and I have a trip to ND to hopefully spear trophy pike. Things will get more interesting come spring.

Might even sneak in some gun talk @CharlieK @7-UP

Got this guy hanging around my feeder. We call him the big 9. We identify all bucks at the end of season to make a survivor list. We are currently at 42 individual bucks on our list. He is one of the better. Should be a 150 class deer next year. Here he is velvet and last week.IMG_20200209_154121.jpgIMG_20190907_145319.jpg

Do they also ban hunting with rifles?

In Illinois you can only use a shotgun, handgun or muzzle loader.

So everyone goes to Wisconsin. 😁
A common misconception in MN is that the shotgun zone (which is about the southern 1/3 of the state) was created because the fear of rifle bullets traveling further then rifle slugs in more populated areas. The truth is the law was created to protect at the time a fragile deer herd. There were more people in the south and the effective range of a shotgun slug at the time was about 50 yards.

Rifles are Superior to shotguns but the advancement of slugs and guns has really made the law obsolete. It's why WI got rid of their shotgun zones.

I have a purpose built slug gun. Benelli Nova 12 ga with a rifled barrel and a Nikon Slug Hunter bdc scope. It's accurate to 150 yards every day of the week. My only real gripe with shotguns is speed of the slug, shock power, and how bulky a shotgun is compared to a rifle.

There are more compact factory built slug guns on the market. I want one but I have a streak going with my gun and can't seem to give it up..

Went fishin' with a guide for the first time ever last summer.

Mike Rodgers. He works out of the red door resort on mille lacs and is a clam sporting goods pro. Knows his ****.

I've never been on a guided trip. Me and @cLuCk cLuCk are planning on trying it this summer on Lake of the Woods.
