Can someone tell me...

IMA KEEP IT REDNECK
Why the hell you need to idle your truck at 1200rpms or more when it’s 60 degrees outside? I figured owner operators liked money in their pockets. But this dick parked next to me at the truck stop in Rogers Minnesota seems to think that bitch needs to scream for the last 3 hours. I imagine it will be that way all night. Never understood the need to constantly have your truck running.

He's a driver not an O/O.
(mentality wise)

And he's an idiot.
Probably has fingerless gloves.
Along with sweatpants being held up by suspenders and a black t shirt with some sort of wolf motif.

I'm just spitballing.....

Possibly, I ain’t seen him come out the truck. He got the cab curtains closed too. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Who knows man. I just find it funny is all. I know if I was making the truck payment I wouldn’t be doing that.

First, Peace.

Second, I've been parking with my window screens in all summer, choose a spot away from other trucks, and still get clowns who feel they must park next to me and idle.

Earplugs.

I will agree to the cease fire for now.

Yeah I got a set of screens a couple weeks ago and I don’t normally park at truck stops for the night. I can’t park at the job site so this is the closest place. I can handle trucks at an idle near me or even what I call a normal reefer(fairly quiet and doesn’t go to 12million rpms at random) but, belt squeals and guys idled up to 1200-1600 with the fan screaming every 3 minutes drives me bonkers. Oh well: it is what it is I rekon.

I wish I had a fan switch to stop the fan cycling.....

Me too. It would be easier if it was constant. You can get used to a constant noise and fall asleep.

Also @ironpony earplugs are no good for me. I have permanent ringing of the ears from an IED blast in Iraqistan. The “combat earplugs” were “faulty” also that particular time I didn’t have the right one in because our head sets were on the fritz and I needed to be able to hear my TC. So when I put in earplugs it sounds like a very loud dog whistleish sound. The back ground noise drowns it out for the most part.

Random full throttle stuff is a defrost cycle. Lasts about 15-20 minutes.

Typically I'd pull up to the fuel island and get tanked up before parking for the night. I'd hit the manual defrost button as soon as I get out. That way it's done by the time I'm parked. Then it just idles all night.

So it will do one of those 10-15 times a night for 4-6 minutes at times?

That's more than likely a hard freeze load (-10 to -20) that's been set in a cyclic mode. Those modes usually run real hard when the reefer first starts up. Continuous modes do that much less often... it's usually just one power setting unless the temperature gets out of range. Most reefers, if they're well maintained, won't run defrost very often.

What ironpony said.

But I'll add, maybe there's something wrong with it.

Also, the automatic defrost cycles are set in the unit's computer. Van Wyk, last I knew, had theirs set to auto-defrost every 6 hours if it's set on continuous run mode.

I can't sleep with a reefer starting and stopping every few minutes so I always put them on continuous.

Late 50s early 60s well trimmed beard and glasses T-shirt and golf shorts. Long socks with a moccasin style shoe. And when sitting in the seats up front killing time he’s got a game of some kind going.
