The heck is a mid size pickup? Like a half ton?For the price you pay and the mileage you get I cannot fathom a justification for a mid size pickup.

Ok. No.Colorado, Canyon, Tacoma...that Nissan thing...
Mini pickup IMO would be a Chevy Luv or an Isuzu Pup or a Mitsubishi Mighty Max.
Some of those names show my age shut your face.
Mini = Ranger, S-10, anything Japanese from the 80's, Colorado/CanyonOk. No.
One tons are full size pickups. With an 8’ or 9’ box or flatbed
Everything else is a mini truck
I liked my S-10 for loading the bed. It was a nice low 2WD. But the driving position for short people is crap. The dash is too high and the pedals force you to practically eat the steering wheel.I still don’t get the appeal of mini-trucks
I mean I guess they’re ok. But then people try to toe with them, and complain how poorly they toe
Or they complain how small the box is
Or complain how small the backseat is.
It’s a mini-truck. What did you expect.
Part of the problem with society is people defining things on their own terms and insisting that what they say is fact.Ok. No.

I drove an 84 S10 Blazer for years. I loved it. Had 2 rangers loved them. Had 3 F150's loved them. Had 3 Chevy's the Chevy's were more comfortable to me from steering wheel location and angle to seat cushions.I liked my S-10 for loading the bed. It was a nice low 2WD. I had to sell a perfectly good low mileage one because I couldn't get comfortable in it.

Used to be, the pickups were rated 1/2 ton (1000lb payload) F100's, Chevy C10. When Ford went to F150 rating they were advertised as 5/8 ton payload. 3/4 ton remained the same.Part of the problem with society is people defining things on their own terms and insisting that what they say is fact.
Besides, you can get 1 ton specs in the size of a half ton these days.

I don't think they sell half tons anymore. They sell "mid size" (which is almost as big as my 98 5/8 ton Chevy)- neither of my Rangers were rated at 1/2 ton, but both my F150's were 5/8 ton rated- my youngest son has an Expedition (i/2 ton?) which he used to pull a 32 ft camper- he had to white knuckle it but it worked- he now has a F350 Dually he hasn't used yet for anything- my oldest has an F350 Dually he used to tow a 5th wheel trailer but when the trailer had a blow out he decided that was more than he cared to deal with. He now has a tag 29ft and he's more comfortable- I used the oldest boy's Dually to pull a 32 foot race car trailer (14k loaded) and was quite comfortable, but it was a *tag* trailer. We also used the race car owners 3/4 ton Chevy to pull the race car trailer and it was *good* up to just less than 70mph. At that point the trailer started trying to get squirelly. I chalked that up to the truck not having dual rear tires/wheels, but it pulled and stopped fine and only squatted about 3/4 in.Part of the problem with society these days is people watching TV commercials and getting the half baked impression a half ton is a real truck.
Axle ratings, tire ratings, spring ratings, stability etcetera are lacking on the little half tons. Hence, they’re a mini truck
I’ve seen half tons pulling gooseneck flatbeds and never laughed so hard
Anyone that thinks a half ton competes with a one ton is the byproduct of marrying cousins

You did.Who said anything of the sort?
Yah the one ton spec being one ton (2000lbs) of payload capacity. Half tons can actually do that now.You did.
My little one ton truck is a dollar truck all day long. With or without a trailer I’ve had her at triple digits.I don't think they sell half tons anymore. Not loaded mind you, but an empty gooseneck flatbed.
I had a loser in a Dodge Ram 1500 shortbox regular cab Hemi mini-truck wanting to play games when I was empty one time. He legit took front door from me but it was closer than he thought it would be, I was close to 14,000 pounds with the trailer on even empty. I’m guessing he would be 3500 pounds.
Had a Mustang wanted to play one night, too. North out of Wilmington NC. No trailer this time. He took it up to 95 mph then backed out of it
It’s awesome having a one ton pickup that can pull that hard and run triple digits
No, I use my truck to make money. It’s a toolOh so you’re actually a hot shot driver?
And no it was you who made the entrance to the thread with bullshit machismo once again.
Not to rain on your parade here bud, but most half tons have an advertised 13k tow capacity.View attachment 51661

I’d like to see a half ton mini truck do that
