Radiant Fire, part deux?

I could see myself riding around in that!
The more I look at those trucks, the more I like them. It's a shame they can't have the drivers lounge like so many other trucks have now.

W900 was always my favorite hood, but I'm not a fan of narrow cabs these days, so this is the best of both worlds.
If you squint both eyes, shake your head until you’re dizzy, then look at that truck upside down....yup, not a bad looking ride....

Radiant fire... :coocoo:

The couple I've seen in person left me with 2 thoughts.

I'm not a fan of the headlight treatment, just doesn't do it for me.

And the faux air cleaners? I guess that's like stuffing a sock in the front of your pants. Not a fan. Very gaudy.

Mind you, I'm not a big fan of the hoods. My 97 CH is still my favorite look.

CH as in Mack CH series? I've been looking at those as my first *ahem* sleeperless power unit. They're relatively inexpensive and TBH I don't need much truck to run the rail.

Honestly, I hadn't looked at them close enough to see if they were functional or not.

Mine was loaded out. Leather, 84" condo, dual stacks, gold bulldog. Loved that truck. Only complaint was the foot wells were tight. But I'm a 36" inseam.

Yeah, mine wasn't like that, LOL. Cloth, small sleeper, single bunk, chrome puppy, but mechanically it was flawless. Remembering that truck really points my eyes toward the new Anthem as I look at new trucks.

All the electrical issues Volvo has though. I'm assuming the Mack's are using the same system since Volvo owns them.

That said, mine was as reliable as an hammer. Guy I sold it to rolled it. I wanted to kill him.

Maybe a Candy Apple Red truck? That is the color I planned on painting my Camaro before some dumbass truck driver backed out onto the road from a fuel station while I was "not" racing at 140mph.

I've been look at 1993-1997 models. Super basic, minimal stuff to break.

I look at how simple my pickup is and would love to have the spirit of that even if I'm lacking in power by today's standards.

Kinda like to aim for the long slow paid off burn than bust ass to make a huge payment.

Basically jump in the truck, run a couple loads, go home, fry up a steak. Enjoy life.

Not to rain on the parade here, but...

93-97 model. That is old. minimal becomes major at that point when you start dealing with wiring. Wiring in the dash can mess up your world, engine harness wiring can mess up your world.

If a truck at that age was running flawlessly, it would be ran by somebody who has owned it for a while. you have a razor slim chance of getting a truck like that from somebody that has it in perfect condition and is retiring. Even then, it's gonna cause you problems.

You are transitioning from company driver to owner operator. A breakdown that results in a late delivery can be very costly.

You have to be very mechanically inclined to take on something like that, and you have to go through it with a fine toothed comb before you put it in service, especially with today's regulations. If you find a company that will lease it on, they are likely a company you don't want to mess with. Get your own authority, and that truck could have you paying insurance premiums that would break your bank quickly.

I'm mechanically inclined when I want to be. I'm aware of the pitfalls.
