Old hand now living near Cochise Stronghold...

Lived on the beach in Dago for decades, couldn't afford it any longer so I moved to AZ three years ago... spent two years in Show Low, paradise on earth in the White Mountains, but steady year-round work was hard to find. Flipped the house I bought and went roaring off to the PNW... plenty of work up there, but I never found a fixer home worth buying in my price range, so I returned to AZ and bought this place with a million-dollar view of the Stronghold. During these moves, I drove the rental truck and juggled two cats... camped with 'em for over a month in WA, which was the best part of that whole venture, camping in a forest of 300' Sitka Spruce trees overlooking Willapa Bay. Camped with the cats again below the Stronghold while waiting for escrow to close on my current home... primo outdoor venue, the Stronghold, more on that later. :stirpot2:

Anyway, I've been away from trucking for awhile, courtesy of some fake felony charges in the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia... part of that jailhouse funding scam going on out there, not to mention the blatant corruption. I don't miss that seaside ghetto, that's for sure. Figured I'd relive some of the good ol' days by joining a trucking forum or two, maybe share some cool trucking pics from back in the day. Guess I'll start with this link to a spam-free site, the shots are already posted there... I don't use the site anymore, think I was banned years ago while going through that ridiculous ordeal of being charged time and time again, but the thread is still there. There are cool shots on both pages of that thread, many of them "truck camping" shots taken during restarts... two sets of pics per page, four sets total, you can scroll past whatever text lies between sets, no worries. You older hands will get a kick out of the shots, moi using that 10-ton road tractor like a friggin' RV, LOL. Enjoy!!! :shift:

P.S. Just noticed that "Injun" is here, or was here... Injun, you remember my "INTERNET RAMBO!!!" post at TTR? Well, I'm still around, just been busy with the relocation. Gonna post some links to trucking stories I wrote back in the day, but first I might throw down some shots of the Stronghold... after this initial post. CHEERS!!! :deadhorse:

Some of those hardcore gals can climb better than most guys, LOL:

Anyway, you get the idea... there's world-class climbing at the Stronghold, perhaps you'll remember this when you're running the southern route on I-10 and you look over at this huge natural stone fortress where Cochise used to hang out with his band of Chiricahua Apaches. Good camping there too, but access can be tricky... remote camping on the west side is free, I'm a notoriously cheap b@stard, LOL. For the record, during my "trucking daze" I used to keep field gear, climbing gear & a 4-man inflatable raft aboard my truck, to be used whenever I pulled a restart. Instead of crying in my beer at some truck stop, I'd ditch my wagon (hide it somewhere) and burn company fuel as I checked out county, state & national parks, took boat rides & float trips, visited beaches & skyscrapers, etc. A "model employee" I was NOT, LOL. This was back in the day when a hand could still do the "turista pagado" number without any problems, as long as that hand held up his or her end of the bargain while delivering freight. :biggun:

Okey-dokey, I dug up some classic tales from the road for you truck driving heroes, each link leads to a story I wrote back in the day. You old hands will get a good laugh out of these tales from the road... sorry about the other b.s. at that site, no way I rewrite everything here at this site, it's easier just to post the links. Somewhere in those stories, I noticed an author's note about the photos I posted at Truckforum.Org in a thread titled "Got Chrome??? How about Armor???" That thread would be in the 'General Truck Forum'---think I eventually got banned from that site so I haven't been there in awhile, but again, the pics are still up, LOL. Anyway, here are some trucking stories for y'all, hope ya enjoy 'em:

For The Birds

Monkey Business In Manhattan

The $300 Gnat

Mohawk Mountain Madness

Salt Lake Skeeter Saga

Affirmative Action On The San Rafael Swell

Triple Treat ("I ain't talkin' Baskin-Robbins!!!")

A Classic Footrace

Vision Quest At Vedauwoo

Mysterious & Magical Mt. Livermore

Ice Storm

"And I'll Take Some To Go..."

Those are just a few tales from the road, I have more but these will do for now... if you mods know how to cut those stories out and paste 'em here, by all means, feel free, that way we can do away with the links. Moi, I'm NOT a computer expert, I'm an old rogue dinosaur who can't keep up with modern technology, 10-4? Time for me to mosey on down the road and check out another site, hope y'all enjoy my humble stories, won't find any others like 'em in the literary world, that's for goddam sure, LOL. :stare1:

Hey, did y'all know I'm PSYCHIC? Let me don my jeweled turban, slap a third eye on my forehead & gaze into this crystal ball I bought at the swap meet for five bucks... hmm, I foresee a cold beer in my immediate future, LOL. CHEERS!!!
