I have to chuckle at the environmentalists who honestly believe they are helping to save the planet by driving the pretentious Prius and there tesla's. While the Prius does, in fact, have a much lower impact on the environment during operation, owners fail to consider the carbon footprint of the manufacturing, maintenance and disposal of the car some people think is making a difference. People need to get educated on the subject. Sadly, some won't.

So what are folks supposed to do? Go horse and buggy? Yes there is an impact for manufacturing, maintenance, etc. - there woulf be this for any vehicle. But it's possible to minimize the operating impact, yes?

no folks are not supposed to go back to horse and buggy:stare1:. sure there is an impact for manufacturing hybrids and EV'S. but there's only so much manufactures can do. yes one can minimize the impact during operation!!! alot of folks don't realize that some of the same materials are used in regular cars as well as they were experimenting with alternative fuels back in the 1800's

Clue us in on this increased maintenance and disposal costs of a hybrid Prius.

Oil changes are every 20k.

Tires are small and inexpensive

The battery that everyone seems so concerned about is basically a "zero landfill" product. What doesn't recycle is used as furnace fuel for melting down metals.

True and it ain't like the F-150 plant is a clean room. Manufacturing is a dirty business no matter how shiny the product.
