What phone are you using on the road? If other, please comment below..

I used to have a burner before my Cell carrier had a plan that would cover me North American wide for a reasonable price.

Once my carrier cmae out with a good plan, I lost the burner and then I could stay i touch with all you lovely folk here on TTF. net via my Samsung:D:grouphug:
i never considered my pre-paid a burner, mostly cuz i got it at ATT, not the corner gas station.

it has coverage all over the USA as well, but i only need it mostly for work and family. at my job, if i need to take pics of any damaged stock, i take out my digital camera, email that when i get home. i cut down from my cell phone years ago, when it cost me something like $1,000 for a year's worth, and i might have used all of maybe $50 worth all year long. couldn't see the expense in that.

i am not as involved with the world like most other people that buy gadgets and gizmos up the ass....and gotta have the latest, greatest wallet sucking device....

now...if i can make this month's lease payment on my new 2017 Toyota, i'd be happy...

I got the $50 flip phone too! Dont want to carry round big ole smart phone. Flip phone and a 8" tablet is all i need.
i actually do have a tablet, and i use that a lot...it is up to date on all the upgrades, and features.

LOL, I used to use my pad for everything, I wrote down everything, I could find it easily. I am slowly evolving to using the smart phone.
I have realized that I have a tiny laptop in my pocket and it is much more user friendly than my lap top will ever be.:grandpa:

i can't say how many note pads (tablets) i have in my spare room collecting dust...direction's, shipping instructions, personal views on the places and dock workers, and the truck stops over the years.

i even have all my logbooks and DVIR books form day one, of this job...5 years worth now..."just in case, i get called into court, on a murder charge"

We used to do grocery store deliveries and it was always a bitch to figure out the approach, Then google maps came along, Another older driver was saying how he always approached the wrong way, I showed him GooGle satellite on my phone.
He was all like, No shit/ They have that?
Yup! and it comes in pretty handy.

samsung android is a richer OS than IOS. and cheaper to unlock and move over to another carrier providing it's GSM and not CDMA. and there's free apps on android that crapple charges you for as well:mad:. personaly i would buy an unlocked phone that's GSM it will hold it's value better and you won't get all of the carriers crapware on it

Iphone. For me it is either that or a Samsung. Went with an Iphone the last time because everyone else in the house has one.

it was on the news last night (CBS i think) that samsung gets out of any lawsuits over the exploding batteries, and here's how...

somewhere buried deep in the box the phone comes in, is a warranty booklet. one must (i'd surmise) go online and "opt out" of any claims against the company. some young man, woke up to spparks shooting about (he claimed) 2-3 feet from his phone, and burnt him as he was in bed. he is trying to sue samsung, but he very well may lose, as he did not "opt out"...further, he may be responsible as well, to pay ALL the attorney's fee's for the samsung team..!!!!!!!!!

here is a link, to the story

Exploding phone? Samsung's fine print could prevent lawsuits

Strongly suggest passing on the Samsung Galaxy S7 and especially the S7 Edge. Contrary to what their videos said during the marketing campaign to introduce them, the glass is fragile, very easy to shatter, even with a screen protector. $200 to replace it. Even the back is glass, same thing. Samsung will not take any responsibility for the design which could be the problem. Carriers now are saying it is a 200 deductible in some cases. Lots of information out there, especially on the official Samsung forums about this. Mine got cracked the second day, bottom right, opposite corner a week later. My fumbly fingers caused it but every phone I ever owned in the past was dropped also, without cases, and didn't shatter the glass.

Go ahead and get one if you want to, they sure are pretty. Just remember, it is a delicate flower that you will be buying.

my iphone 8+ is all glass to!!! if one buys either one of these phones i hope the hell they pony up and get the otter box defender case along with the insurance

i have to say iphone. they have american support. and even though apple care has gotten more expensive but there services rendered are more than what they were in the past a cracked screen for me is 99.00 bucks vs 200.00 and painfully waiting for the insurance company to send me my new phone!!! i just walk into any apple store and they will replace my screen for my while i play with all of the gagdets. now if my phone is lost or stolen then it's 180.00 and painfully waiting for the insurance co to send me a new phone. though before i resort to that i would run the find my iphone app and try to locate it and file a police report and have them go get it.
