I'm Back to work

Cerberus

In God We Trust
It finally happened. I got a job. But it wasn't cheap. I had to move to get one. I left Atlanta, where i couldn't get a job to save my life. and i have been doing this since '91. I moved to Pa to a small town and got a job with a smaller owned company running thru the week and off on weekends. i had my doubts for awhile and thought i threw away the last 16 yrs driving after i couldnt get a job with a felony on my record. I go monday to do a one hour "orientation" then they hand me a set of keys and off i go. my laptop is not set up right now so i will only be here on weekends til i get it running again

Congratulations, Cerberus! Great to hear, even if it did come at a price. Hope it works out well for you.

Hey you never know, maybe leaving for the country life was the best thing that could happen to you. I hate big cities myself. Living in one anyway.

thanks everyone. i am really excited about driving again and getting out there. they seem like a pretty decent company and i like how they run their logs. i'll let you all know how it goes.

Congrats on finding a job again. Hope everything works out for you with the new company. I think we all run into times when we wonder if we're going to be able to stay in this business for one reason or another.

1 week down and many more to go. it has only been a week but i like how they run there operations. the people are really nice. it is kinda like being an o/o. all they do is tell me where i am going shipper/reciever and give me the brokers number. i route myself and deal with the customers personally. they are a good company but as some of the places i go with them i see why they require experience and lots of it. i had to blindside this week more than i sight sided it. glad i know how to do it without having to jump out of the rig 12 hundred times. i am headed to trenton , nj monday. yuck.

Man, our guys can blind side like nothing flat over and over again. I can hardly back up. I hate it. I am so worried about banging into a brand new trailer that i freak out and make it hard on myself.

Congrats on finding a job. I know exactly what you mean about the job market in Atl. Maybe its time I broaden my search. The experiences I've had in the freight industry here in Atl have left something to be desired for sure.

i wish you all the luck. atlanta is not like it used to be. it is almost impossible to get a job. i was out of work for 4 months before i made the change. it was definitly for the better.

3 weeks down and still loving the company. wish i would have found them years ago and not wasted so much time with the big company mumbo jumbo.
