Diesel fuel made from air & water

Duck

Sarcastic remark goes here
Audi have successfully made diesel fuel from carbon dioxide and water - ScienceAlert

Maybe with this fuel, we could ditch the problematic garbage on the trucks, get our power, fuel economy and reliability back, and still appease the fools who believe in the "climate change" myth.

I feel the future is bright, but it's not going to be easy. Lots of cool stuff out there the public doesn't know about or aren't educated enough to comprehend

Some day FAR off in the future, there will be space truckers.

They'll fly giant tanker space ships that go to the gas giants or Venus and scoop up fuel gases from their atmospheres & return them to Earth to power our flying cars.

And they'll b**** about the regulations imposed on them by the Solar Federation & wear flip-flops & fingerless gloves.

And get drunk and make stupid posts like this one.

I hope i'm dead by the time we get flying cars some of these idiots can't even drive on the road let alone fly. ide hate to rain on your parade. but VW and MERCEDES invented DEF fluid and all of these disasters. what makes you think I would trust em with another one of there ideas:confused-96:

Oh come on. You know the Germans always make good stuff.

When have the Germans ever had a bad idea?

:headscratch2:

Wait.... There's this:

So what your really saying is we've all got a healthy dose of Fahrfergnuegen now...

Oi Vey!

Or appease the fools that believe that Audi invented something here. The Fischer–Tropsch process of synthesizing diesel wasn't invented by Audi and isn't anything new

My bet is that electrolyzing the water and processing the carbon into this fuel will require more energy than the final product will yield. Probably fairly clean burning, but the pollution caused by all the electrical power used to produce this "blue crude" will negate the low pollution from burning it in autos

Maybe they plan on using giant solar arrays.

:headscratch2::dunno: veg oil still rocks:cool:
When you can't watch TV for more than an hour without seeing some sappy tear jerker commercial with fat Americans begging for 70 cents a day to feed cute little starving children in El Salvador or wherever, I can't in good conscience support any energy source that uses food. At least not on the scale that fossil fuels are currently used.

It takes more energy to produce a gallon of ethanol than the ethanol has in it. But they still produce it anyway, to appease the farm lobby & to keep Al Gore's investment in ADM profitable.

If they can make fuel from something that covers 70% the world, 30,000 feet thick, and use free energy from the sun to do it, and be able to sell it in adequate supply without it costing a hundred dollars to fill your car, then why not?

They have a long way to go though. That article says they're only producing a few liters a day.

well I could!! not to be disrespectful about the cute little starving children in EL Salvador or where ever they are. I don't think I would use used cooking oil that's beyond it's life span to my kids so it's better to burn it as fuel. and how do you know that them cute little kids are getting the donations or is the fat Americans stealing all of the money from the starving kids:confused-96:!! I don't belive in supporting opec either:usflag:

You're not taking food out of children's mouths doing what you're doing.

But if EVERYONE did it, consumption would exceed what's being produced by restaurants, and they'd have to increase production of vegetable oil to use for fuel. And doing so would result in more vegetables being used for energy instead of feeding the cute little starving children in El Salvador or wherever...

And demand would also drive up the cost of vegetable oil, making it pointless.
