In God We Trust
Looks like i am moving to Jax, Fla here soon and i was wondering if anybody new of any good companies to work for. I know the area well as i am from there originally. I am looking for something with more home time than otr. IO know of a few big companies run just florida and that is what i want but am wondering if i am missing out on anything good. Would like a more smaller company as i like them more. Any help is appreciated.

I can't remember the name, but there's a milk company I've been hearing ads for. Almost all their runs are regional, but during some months, they go midwest and back too. They say most of their drivers enjoy the change and that it's during late summer and fall, but not winter.

And there's Windy Hill(I think). Don't know much about them, but it's kinda small and seemingly either FL only or SE regional.

Can't think of much else at the moment. Good luck.

thanks for the response. if you hear of anything let me know, ok ? thanks. i do know of a few that run fla and fla only(heartland, raven) but i am thinking about after 18 years doing this and it just getting worse of going into driving a dump truck or cement truck or maybe even for an LTL company. not sure right now as i am just weighing some options around and seeing which bird is gonna shit on me less.

Florida is dead and dried up...................
Has been for awhile.

the whole south is pretty dead. i see energy dispatch is hiring down there also but i know nothing about them or have i ever known anybody who works for them. i'm trying to find some info on them now other than the website they have.

COMCAR's CT division is hiring... Won't hire ME, but they have an ad in the paper. Based in Savannah, GA and looking for J-ville drivers. No details, but they wouldn't hire me because of tickets I got in, get this... 1992, 96 and 2001! Clean since then and ... no... Crazy.

I own my own Truck & Company (shut down) and am also looking to drive someone elses truck for a while. I live about 50 mile south of jacksonville and it is DEAD around here. The dumptruck and cement truck drivers are only getting paid about $10 per hour not much pay around here for drivers.

Keep me posted on the job market down there i was thinking
of moving down in the not to distant future. i always wanted to
move to Florida don't know why just liked the weather down there.

i hear fla rock is hiring and have talked to them but won't touch since i don't have a florida cdl. they said i get it transfered then they will talk to me. easier said than done.

No, that would be CTL. CT is the flatbed division. They may also tell you that CTL or CCC(van) is hiring, as well as the reefer div. Willis Shaw Express(WSE), but I don't know. They have other entities too, but I never hear of them hiring. Perhaps many of those drivers are transfers from the main divisions or they simply hire from elsewhere altogether.

For anyone thinking of moving to FL for whatever reason... Don't bother unless you've either already lived here, or have family here, or both. Just moving down here is asking for a rougher life than most places where making a living is concerned. That's not just drivers, but in general. If not for family, I wouldn't live here.

FL ROCK... From the little I've learned, not my kind of company. Long story there... I'll spare you.:D

I did a pickup at Penser in Jville last week. Kind of an old, tight to get into facility, but the people were really cool and their trucks were decent. They run freight all over the South. We used them as a broker and I took a load of candy (41,000 lbs of Charms Blow Pops) to Chattanooga.
