STAY AWAY FROM BUFFETS

NOT BEING A SMARTASS BUT IF TRUCKERS WOULD STOP SPENDING MONEY ON THE BUFFET AND EAT A HEALTHY PORTION THAT IS OFF THE MENU, YOU WOULD GREATLY CUT DOWN ON FAT INTAKE AND CALORIE INTAKE!!!:order:

buffett is cheaper than menu items. that is why we eat it.
THAT IS NOT TRUE! THINK ABOUT THIS MOST BUFFETS COST ANYWHERE FROM 7.99-9.99 GIVE OR TAKE SOME!! YOU CAN ORDER A GREAT MEAL FOR THE SAME PRICE, HELL YOU CAN ORDER A STEAT DINNER FOR ABOUT THE SAME PRICE... IM NOT TRYING TO TELL ANYBODY HOW TO EAT BUT JUST THINK ABOUT IT!

Well, it's not how much you eat but WHAT you eat.
Buffets usually, at least here in Finland, include great salads too. And you don't have to take the greasiest meat of the buffet... You can always take some greenies, veggies and fruits a bit more.

And of course, your digestive system (I don't know if this is a proper expression but hope so) plays a big part too.

And yes, in Finland it seems that truckers overweight probem needs some kind of solving too. Though, conditions (HOS, truckstops, trucks, schedules etc.) differ hugely from those in there.

but then you might not be full. and there is always the salad bar. it's about eating sensible and not stuffing yourself. personally i refuse to become a so called big fat truck driver. when i do the buffet , i also make a trip to the salad bar for the rufage. i try to eat pretty healthy.

I am here to tell you right now i will eat anything that don't eat me, and if it does eat me i will eat it from the inside out.

I look forward to a buffet and i look forward to seeing how high i can stack them plates. sure a person can get a meal for a comparable price considering the price of buffets but are you going to get the same amount of food or the variety of food...Nope. and i don't know about you but i have been know to not be able to eat regularly on the road maybe have a meal on monday and not get another till early wednesday, so i need them extra portions and calories. I have snacks and food in my truck but nothing i would consider a meal or anything like that.

I need buffets damn it and i need a lot of em that are good, LEAVE MY BUFFETS ALONE!!!!!!!!,lol.

If your eating iceberg lettuce for that "ruffage", your wasting your time. That kind of lettuce has the nutritional value of water. Most buffets don't have good greens like romaine, etc. Bottom line is almost everything at a truckstop is crap. High in sodium, high in trans fat, fried usually and covered in gravy.

Ways to eat healthy

Buffets are filled with germs!!
Not everyone washes their hands and uses hand sanitizers either. People sneeze, use the same plate, change eating utensils on the buffet.

Also I know its like 10 miles from the last parking spot to get inside the a store of truck stop but it will help keep the blood flowing to your heart and can be considered a small daily excerise you can do a couple times a day. Just park far away from the destination you are walking to.

Making healthy fast food choices
Stick to these simple ground rules:
  • Eat a variety of foods in moderate amounts.
  • Use less salt on your food. Carry seasonings (like Mrs. Dash) in your cab so you can add extra flavor without the extra salt.
  • Avoid foods labelled jumbo, giant, and super-sized. Larger portions mean more calories. Order a regular or junior portion instead.
  • Choose grilled or broiled sandwiches with meants like lean roast beef, turkey or chicken breast.
  • Request that special sauces or added dressings be left off your order, and add lots of veggies to the mix.
  • Skip the croissant or biscuit in favor of a bun, bread or English muffin.
  • Fill up at the salad bar if available, but beware of thick, creamy dressings.
  • When eating Mexican food, order bean burritos, soft tacos, fajitas and other items that are not fried. Chicken is better than beef, especially with the addition of lettuce, tomatoes and salsa. Limit refried beans, and go easy on cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. Watch out for fried tortilla shells! A taco salad can have more than 1,000 calories.
  • Pizza can be a good choice. Order thin crust pizza with veggie toppings, start with a salad, and limit yourself to one or two slices of pizza.
  • Avoid these traps: fat-free muffins with plenty of sugar, skinless fried chicken contains a lot of fat, Chinese food that is deep fried or high in sodium and fat.
