After what seemed to be an overly ambitious goal that was falling short just days before the ceremony, Wreaths Across America has done it. Nearly 50,000 volunteers laid a wreath on all 230,000 gravestones at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 13.

“It was incredible. I have never seen anything like it,” WAA spokesperson Amber Caron told Land Line.

This year’s milestone is an increase of 87,000 wreaths at Arlington from last year. On Dec. 3, Caron expected that only 165,000 of the 230,000 gravestones would receive a wreath.

Nice to see truckers step up. Truckers a some of the most patriotic folk , I suppose that comes from seeing the country from coast to coast the best and the worst that it offers.

Just keep their wreaths away from my head stone when I croak. As a vet, It would be an insult for communist front groups like the ATA or TCA, who help sponsor this stuff, to put a wreath on a veteran's head stone. There in no patriotic motive to these groups doing it. It is just a PR game for image, all the while supporting that which veterans tried to protect America from... more government control of our lives. These groups hate the U.S. Constitution, which veterans swore an oath to protect.

How about just taking into consideration all the folks who freely volunteer their time and resources to such things and quit insulting them by making it all about politics???

Life is like the parsons egg.

You have the good bits, like volunteers who believe in what they do.

You have the bad bits like cynical PR ops by scheming corporate types.

Focus on the good bits.

Or like Forrest Gump would say. "Ignore the nouguts, there's plenty of mint filling, Yum"

ATA and TCA are about as anti-Communist as you could possibly get. They are more Capitalist than most Capitalists. They're not all about wealth redistribution. They're about amassing wealth and then figuring out for themselves what to do with it.

They're just trying to tweak the system to their own advantage. Who wouldn't, given the opportunity?

Y'know.... we do the "evil corp" stuff all the time..... Greedy Capitalists, stealing our money all that shite.

We whine that they are not "public spirited" enough and when they do get behind something it's "political" or PR.

Well, back when I had my little operation it was a daily thing dealing with calls from this or that outfit looking for donations. Not a few bucks nor even a hundred or two..... noooo.... minimum $1000. Just because I had an ad in the Yellow Pages. They mine those kind of places.

Now can you imagine the calls that they get to deal with.... especially in this "entitlement" era????? The world is full of leeches who figure they're owed whatever they want.

Nope I pegged it right about the ATA and the TCA. Anyone who would leverage the government to do their bidding against others is definitely not into Americanism. Maybe not pure Communism, but Facism, Socialism on the heavy side, etc. The ATA/TCA will leverage government to mandate what limit I can drive a truck in both terms of hours and speed. And they leverage for mandated use of electronic logs, hair sample testing, and a host of other things. Oh no, don't just advocated them for their members and leave it at that. No sir. The goal is to have every truck in America toeing the line that the ATA/TCA sets.

I sure didn't take and oath and spend 7 years in the military to support that. So the contention I made is still the same. I want nothing to do with this wreath stuff and hope they bypass my headstone when I die. I never made a comment about who volunteers to do this stuff, just the major players. I read all about the volunteers, but I never read of one ATA/TCA official out there putting a wreath on. You guys seem to confuse the peons with the power brokers.

No confusion whatsoever sir. But I'm not gulliable enough to buy into the "Evil Corp" Liberal crap either.

You want to pillory ATA and TCA you need to include all "professional" organizations including those for carpenters, electricians, welders, etc,etc.... because the all lobby the pols. OOIDA too while you're at it. If you're an O/O leased to a company do you buy tires and fuel through their "National Accounts". Insurance through the company's plan? Well, you best cut that out. It's "Communal Purchasing" (communism) and an unfair advantage over the "pure O/O's".

If you want to rage against something that's the real problem to all this; rage about the "leaders" who so eagerly accept the "gifts" from all the lobbyists. If you can ever figure out a real answer to that you'll be famous.

Who cares who is behind this movement. It is a very nice gesture to recognize those fallen vets, in whatever way is befiting to their sacrifice. These men and women deserve to be honored, regardless of whom does it. As long as they dont put up posters or make a political show of it or while doing it, I dont care if its Hitler or Stalin themelves. Lets quit looking the gift horse in the mouth, and start being appreciative for the gesture. We can find bad in anything, but can we not look for the good once in awhile.

I agree 100%. Thank God for our military personal each and every one of them. Anyone that will honor and respect our veterans has my gratitude.
