What's up with that??

Why is this suddenly becoming a problem? Has something changed in the way the food is harvested or processed?

It's likely due to animal migrations, climate changes...etc. Bacteria is picked up and moved.
Oh, the laziness of the American people who have quit washing their bagged produce because it says it has already been washed.

Well if people were not so lazy, many wouldn't have gotten sick. Just because the bag says "pre-washed" doesn't mean it's clean. It just means that it was washed at some point!
