Started My Old Pickup

This is also the first video I've ever tried to put on YouTube.
I bought this truck new in 1978 and finally parked it when I bought my dually Ram 10 years ago. I decided to see if it would run again and I was rather astonished that the truck started that easy.
Tranny and brakes works fine. Needs a couple tires on the front and I knew it needed a fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump which is why I put the gas jug on the fender. A few other things need done before it goes on the road.

That looks like a 5.7 or 350 CID engine. It's going to have to sit longer than 10 years to lock one of them up. That's why it's the most common repower engine for all makes and models out there. Parts are anywhere you look and they are fairly dependable as long as you take care of it.

My 2011 F150 has the first generation EcoBoost in it. Everyone says it's a boat anchor and none made it over 50,000 miles without timing chains and cam phasers. I'm at 80,000 and change the oil every 4,000 miles. Never a hiccup from it and quiet as a mouse. Ford says 7,500. I would follow that like I would believe the transmission and rear ends along with the coolant are lifetime liquids. Lifetime being the extent of the warranty.

Yes that is a 4 bolt main, 350 small block with a TH400 behind it. It's a camper special 3/4 ton.
All 3 of my sons pickups have a 300 inline 6 with the Mazda 5 speed. He told me that Mazda and ford were working together back then.

My 89 Ranger has a Mazda 5 speed behind it's 2.9L V6.

I found a good example of the power of rust when I pulled the rotted bed off.
First pic is what it's supposed to look like. Second picture is what it's NOT supposed to look like. I'm going to work on that before I put a bed on.20250309_164315.webp20250309_164329.webp20250309_161314.webp

I jumped into my YouTube adventure with both feet. I have been making 1 or 2 videos every weekend and do the editing during my downtime on the road. I know it will take some time to grow, but I'm intending (or hoping) to turn it into a money making venture. I tried doing the editing on my phone, but that is an extremely frustrating process because me and touch screens do not get along. I just bought a cheap laptop that will be only for storing and editing videos.

I tried editing on my phone as well even after already having a laptop, figuring it would be more convenient. It's insanely frustrating, I agree.
