Someone wrote earlier that more power = higher fuel consumption...

Not always so as more power means more torque at lower revs, a trucking mag I was reading a while back had an atricle following the first O/O of a new model Volvo truck, he traded in his 620Hp for a new 720, he quoted going up the hill dropped fuel consumption. from 1.8Km per Litre to 2.05 Km per Litre. so for the same litre of fuel he got both up the hills faster and 250mters more distance travelled.

He was based out of Wairoa and running some of the worst hills in the East Cape region carrying livestock.

That goes for speed limiters too. If you are unrestricted to speed up before climbing a hill before you get to it, You will save fuel. All these folk trying to save the environment and fuel are full of crap. Faulty logic as always

We use Volvo with 750 horse power and torgue of more than 3000 newton meters and it's doing aprox. 28 l/100 km.... less than weaker engines at less torgue. The trick is that 750 hp engine is much more "lighter" on hills etc.... it's not forceing and that means alot

It is a pity Foden folded, they had some nice trucks. Fully synchro boxes, comfortable cabs for the times.

I like Man trucks. once i got a hooker for 10 euros in it.... vebasto heater , roof red lights, fridge with a bootle of votka..... things can get nice in Man.... but i think she actualy liked the size of a cab rather than me

My buddy was a Croatian, not sure on what the whole thing was about. Some Serbs would want to argue about it even in Canada.
