All of these policies are a result of incidents that have happened. Retarded driver pulling away while loading. Retarded loaders not locking in the trailer/showing the green light during the loading process.
Some places would want my keys, no problem what driver doesn't have two or even three sets of keys?

My rule of thumb was I don't move until I have signed paperwork in hand and have been cleared to leave.

As a shunter we do not even make contact with a trailer that has a red light at the dock. When we get a green light, then and only then do we hook to the trailer.
