The next seminar designed to help small-business truckers succeed is scheduled for March 10-12 at the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association headquarters in Grain Valley, MO.

There are still a few classroom slots left.

Instructor Tom Weakley of the OOIDA Foundation and guests from various OOIDA departments will share their valuable knowledge of and experience with Association members in an informal classroom setting.

Subjects include operating authority, taxes, spec’ing a truck, financing, cost of operation, broker-carrier agreements, leasing, insurance, drug testing, safety audits, inspections and how to keep good records.

“Obviously in this downturned economy, it’s more important than ever that you understand the aspects of the business side of trucking,” Weakley told Land Line. “People need to be much more aware of what it takes to be a successful owner-operator.”

The cost of $450 includes the three-day seminar lasting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, course materials, breakfast, lunch and snacks.
